Blake Gideon Formally Added to Texas Staff *** It is official from the university – Blake Gideon has been hired as the passing game coordinator and secondary coach. Gideon was back on campus Thursday per a source as well. Today, the school formally announces his return to the defensive staff. Gideon was on campus from 2021 to 2024 before heading to Atlanta to be the Georgia Tech defensive coordinator in 2025. Texas forward Nic Codie is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, OTF has learned. A source tells OTF that the Longhorns are opting to move in a different direction. Codie is expected to have a number of options elsewhere. One source close to Codie indicated that a return to Texas would not be ruled out but it would have to make sense on the Longhorns’ end. OTF does not expect that to come to fruition. The 6-foot-8 Dallas native just completed his second year with the Longhorns, providing quality minutes off the bench in UT’s NCAA Tournament run. Texas forward Declan Duru Jr. is entering the NCAA transfer portal, On Texas Football has learned. On3 first reported Duru set to enter. OTF's Gerry Hamilton has been reporting this is an expected development. Duru is the fourth known departure from Sean Miller’s program following the 2025-26 season, joining guard Simeon Wilcher and forwards Nic Codie and Cam Heide. The 6-foot-9-inch Duru played in 12 games for the Longhorns this past season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. AUSTIN, Texas — Texas freshman five-star quarterback Dia Bell arrived onto the field later than the other quarterbacks on Saturday at Texas Football's Fan Day. Why is that notable? Bell walked onto the field noticeably gingerly, and without his helmet. Bell eventually put on a helmet after throwing a few passes and talking with some staff members. Texas hosted 2026 Oaks Christian (Calif.) DB Davon Benjamin for a three-day visit last Wednesday, leading into the final days of the spring season. Benjamin had been looking to get down to Texas earlier in the spring and was able to make it at the tail end, a big move for the Longhorns in this recruitment. Texas has 10 official visits locked in for June The Texas Longhorns have 10 official visitors for June locked in with Buford (Ga.) High's Bryce Perry-Wright having been added to the June 13 list. The OnTexasFootball 4-star+ defensive lineman from the Peach State has been on campus prior, and received a school visit from Kenny Baker and Tashard Choice last week. Steve Sarkisian has made another hire to his program at Texas, but this time it’s an off the field addition. Errin Joe has been hired as the new Director of Scouting at The University of Texas, first reported by Matt Zenitz. Joe comes from Georgia Tech where he was previously a graduate assistant on the offensive line before eventually transitioning to Assistant Director of Player Personnel and General Manager of Georgia Tech Football.
