Malcolm Simpson post visit update Hitchcock (Texas) High defensive lineman and Nebraska commitment Malcolm Simpson made an unofficial visit to Texas for the Longhorns game vs. ULM Saturday. Simpson, 6-2 and 265'ish with natural strength, spoke briefly with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian after the game. Texas has honed in on its top 2028 quarterback target in Neimann Lawrence. The Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage product will announce his decision on June 25th between Texas, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M. Texas defensive line coach and staff members were by Mater Dei High in January to see the 6-foot-3, 320-pounder and are working to make up ground on one of the nation's top defensive lineman. Steve Sarkisian's replacement for Tashard Choice wouldn't check as many boxes as the former Texas running backs coach. Still, I think Chad Scott checks enough of them to believe Sarkisian's hiring the West Virginia running backs coach to fill the void is a good move for the Longhorns. I’m hearing the Longhorns will likely be getting some good recruiting news this week. I can’t 100-percent promise it’s going to happen - the minds and timing of young people often change - but we’re prepping for it. ** Texas currently sits at 22 commitments for the class of 2025. While I am trekking the unamusing streets of Oklahoma, the team will be flying out of Austin and landing soon this morning.
