A post-official visit update on the seven visitors on campus at Texas this weekend and where things are moving for each recruitment. *** WR Tanook Hines – Dekaney (Texas) High Battle: Texas & Notre Dame Trending: Texas over ND Hines was a late addition to the official visit weekend in Austin and snuck in for the weekend. Texas has been pursuing the elite speedster for a while, with visits dating back to July of 2023 and the Junior Day in January. The message to Hines remains on the offensive side of the ball as Hines' 10.45 speed is certainly enticing to the staff. Should the Longhorns take a commitment from Hines, I have a hard time not seeing him …

A couple of additional recruiting nuggets from the weekend extend a bit beyond the official visits. *** First, in the world of 2026 quarterback recruiting, Troy Huhn tells me that he does not have any visits planned for the time being and has yet to be approached by the Texas staff to attend the Pool Party slated for the final week of July. Huhn was scheduled to make visits to Clemson, Michigan, Penn State and Auburn since his last trip to Texas on June 1. As we move into the summer months, I continue to lean towards Dia Bell being the quarterback pick for Texas, despite Florida State becoming a bit more of a factor since their recent offer. *** …

OTF spoke with Ruston (La) High 2025 CB Aidan Anding prior to his flight home. He gave the Texas visit a “Ten out of ten”. Anding said he will spend time talking to his family and DB coach at Ruston High this week, and announce a decision next weekend - if not earlier in the week. Rumors are flying that Texas outfielder Max Belyeu could possibly be transferring to Texas A&M. After speaking with a couple of sources on Sunday afternoon, I can say that I do not believe that to be the case at this time. Obviously things can change at the drop of a hat, but that’s where things stand as of now. Belyeu was a crucial piece of the Horns offense this season, batting .329 at the plate, while hitting 18 home runs and 53 RBIs.

A few quick notes in regards to the practice held Saturday evening inside of DKR. *** – First off, to build from Bobby's post last night, there were two interceptions thrown during the practice. Arch Manning was picked off on a throw over the middle of the field and Trey Owens was intercepted as well No INTs on the evening for Quinn Ewers, who I am told has had a strong start to fall camp. Ewers continues to be smart with the football and on time with his pass attempts. – A play of the night candidate came from freshman WR Ryan Wingo on a pass that sailed from Arch Manning. Injuries happen in football. And they suck. Sophomore running back Cedric Baxter Jr. went down with a knee injury during yesterday's portion of team drills. Here's what we know so far: 1. This was not a non-contact knee injury. It occurred during team drills. 2. Baxter is said to have not heard a "pop" during the injury. For those who know, that is possibly good news because significant ACL injuries typically are often accompanied with a loud popping noise. 3. Baxter was given an MRI after practice. 4. Some takeaways from the scrimmage based on additional discussions/text messages I’ve had: - Silas Bolden has been the most consistent playmaker at receiver and on the offense generally during fall camp. - Matthew Golden had a good scrimmage on Saturday. - Based on Saturday’s scrimmage, it’s still somewhat unclear how exactly Texas will line up if Jake Majors were to go down with injury at any point this season. Texas SEC basketball schedule released: It's a doozy The Texas Longhorns football program received a favorable year one schedule. The basketball team did not. The SEC released the conference slate for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, and Rodney Terry and staff have a scheduled that includes nine opponents that are in Joe Lunardi's ESPN Bracketology from July 31. Texas plays two of those opponents (Texas A&M and Arkansas) twice as well. Texas begins SEC play with an extremely difficult five game stretch. The SEC opener is at Texas A&M January 4. Some tidbits I've picked up in the last 24-48 hours: * Expect Tre Wisner to be a more important piece to the offense than perhaps many realize. Wisner has had a very strong fall camp. And while his size may not be entirely different than Jaydon Blue, his running style is distinctive. The Texas defense has yet to be truly tested. Michigan was a test, sort of. But a formidable offense, they are not. Before anointing the Horns this season as truly the nation’s best, we need to see them against a stout offense, or at least one with some firepower. The football gods smiled on Longhorn fans yesterday (and very early this morning!). Oklahoma and Texas A&M both lost their games with less than 10 seconds left on the clock. Five-star visitor expected Saturday According to a source close to the North Crowley High football program, the Texas Longhorns will host a 5-star unofficial visitor Saturday. North Crowley High 2026 offensive tackle John Turntine III is expected to be in Austin Saturday for the Longhorns spring game. Turntine III was offered by Texas October 28 while on campus for the game vs. BYU. He returned to campus with his father January 20 for the Texas Junior Day.
