  1. Tuesday afternoon recruiting nuggets Let's get this going before the drive home from work. Jackson Christian visits Texas again Port Neches (Texas) Groves 4-star IOL Jackson Christian was back on campus Tuesday for a second visit to Texas in four days. Christian, 6-5 and 313 pounds, took in the offensive line position meeting prior to watching practice and once again meeting with Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood. All signs point to two very positive visits, and there is confidence on the Texas side. Texas A&M continues to make a push, and there are multiple connections to Texas A&M at PN-G High. OTF percentage: 65% Jonah Williams and Texas…

  2. Recruiting: Path to another top 5 class is clear Whether one is a class rankings follower or believer or not, it still matters from a 85-man roster talent standpoint and perception on the recruiting trail. With 21 commitments, the Longhorns are knocking on the door of signing a fifth straight top 5 level class with as many as seven or eight spots left. OnTexasFootball takes a look at the current path to a fifth straight. Texas commitments (21) ... Dia Bell, QB, Plantation (Fla.) 3. Recruiting: Sunshine State reclass?; in season visits A part of the Texas Longhorns 2025 No. 1 recruiting class included the reclassification of 4-star safety Zelus Hicks (Carrollton, Ga./High) during his junior season. OnTexasFootball has mentioned the likelihood of 2027 to 2026 reclass possibilities for the Longhorns in the 2026 cycle as well. One potential possibility is already emerging. Miami (Fla.) Norland High 6-foot-1 four-star cornerback Kenton Dopson III is strongly considering trying to reclassify from 2027 to 2026. Should the Miami Hurricanes pledge get that done, the Longhorns will have serious interest. A person very close to the recruitmen…

  4. The 2025 class was thought to be concluded and wrapped up for the Texas Longhorns, but a new offer was extended late Tuesday evening to 2025 Washington State LB commit AJ Tuitele. Even after signing the No. 1 class in the country during the first signing period, the Longhorn staff is still looking to add to its historic recruiting class with a potential late flip. Texas has two linebackers in the class with Bo Barnes and Jonathan Cunningham, but the position is still relatively light in terms of on-campus numbers. Tuitele originally signed with Washington State, but re-opened his commitment on December 24 following the departure of the Wazzu HC Jake…

  5. Started by Bobby Burton,

Today is Sark’s birthday. Tomorrow he gets to open his presents. Sark officially embarks on his sixth spring football with the Longhorns. In those six years, he has taken a program that seemed rudderless for more than a decade and turned it into one of the nation’s elite. The transition from a flailing program to one of preeminence is there for all to see. Three consecutive top 10 finishes. Two college football semifinals. Two regular season conference championships and one post-season one. He’s won three of the last four against OU - they rarely score a touchdown these days - and his first two against the Aggies. But what is really the difference…

  6. Steve Sarkisian Weekly Press Conference | November 24, 2025 *** The final week of the regular season has arrived! Feels weird to say. Texas is coming off of a 52–37 victory over Arkansas on Saturday, and will face a short week ahead with a meeting at home against Texas A&M on Friday. Currently, the Longhorns sit on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff, a win Friday is the first step, then a lot of help is needed to get in. 7. Texas players who wanted to transfer had to file paperwork to do so at 11:59pm last night. Kendrick Blackshire, a linebacker originally from Duncanville by way of Alabama, is the only player to officially put their name in the portal. As of late yesterday, we had heard of no other Texas player who was definitely entering the portal later in the evening. In other words, as of about 5pm yesterday, Texas could be finished with losing players to the portal. Could one or two players have opted to enter the portal late yesterday that we're unaware of? Sure. There are a couple who I am told even had the paperwork filled out last week and had difficult discuss…

  8. What Is the Expected Jump for Oklahoma's Offensive Line in 2026? *** An article based around Oklahoma? Yes. You betcha! Sun Tzu said it better than I ever could: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” With that said, the biggest unknown for the 2026 Oklahoma Sooners team isn't the quarterback, and it sure isn't the defense. But it is the offensive line, something that under Lincoln Riley was never questioned. The Sooners w…

  9. After dropping their opener against Louisville in extra innings, Texas Baseball has been on a roll and is now 10-1 on the season. The Longhorns are set to host Santa Clara this weekend, but there's been a major change in the lineup. As I reported yesterday, true freshman LHP Dylan Volantis was expected to be the Sunday starter going forward, taking over duties for Kade Bing. Texas made that official yesterday afternoon. So why the change? I was told that the staff felt like Bing wasn't throwing enough strikes and Volantis has been. Despite being new to the program and still 'learning the ropes', Volantis has handled it great. The coaches have all the confid…

  11. Interesting Numbers Around Texas' Opening Offensive Possessions In the preparation for big matchups, you will often hear folks like myself say it is imperative for the Longhorns to get out to a strong start offensively and get ahead to set the tone. I have even pushed for Sarkisian to take the ball first in key rivalry games to silence the crowd as a result of leaning on the reputable opening script that we often hear about with Steve Sarkisian. But that will no longer be the case. Nope. Won't hear that sentiment from me ahead of these top-25 meetings or prime SEC games. In fact, I have shifted my tone, fully supported by the numbers, which leave no ro…

  13. Texas Hoops: Scrimmage report after 80-52 win over TCU The Texas Longhorns took on TCU in a closed door scrimmage Saturday in San Antonio. Texas won the scrimmage 80-52 against a TCU team that isn't considered quite as strong as the last 2-3 teams in Fort Worth. With that being said, OTF was told that Texas played very well in a lot of aspects. OTF notes from the Texas-TCU scrimmage Five players in double figures. Tre Johnson and Tramon Mark led Texas with 13 points apiece. Tre Johnson scored 13, and that included going 0-4 from three. Which won't happen very often. Johnson is expected to be a 38-40% three-point shooter this season. Texas shot the b…

I’ll have some more team notes a little later today. But for those of you who know me, I really enjoy trivia, especially sports trivia. Here are a couple of Longhorn questions for you (answers at the bottom): 1. What team was the first Longhorn group (in any sport) to win a national championship? 2. What former Texas baseball player replaced Shoeless Joe Jackson in left field following Jackson’s banishment from baseball? 3. Who was the Longhorns’ first consensus All-American in football? 4. What Texas basketball player from Ocala, Fla., led Texas to the 1990 Elite Eight? 5. Against which college does Texas football have the worst winning perc…

  16. NFL Scout on Longhorns in 2026 & 2027 NFL Drafts OnTexasFootball spoke with an NFL Scout Monday night about the draft prospects in 2026 and 2027. While the Longhorns will likely have six to seven draft picks this spring, the 2027 draft is setting up to be a potential all-timer for the program. The scout I spoke with sees Texas a lot. He's a regional scout. While many would believe the scouts have detailed reports on any future NFL draft possibility for a program like Texas, that's not really the case. They build their list on a team/program for sure, but don't truly have detailed reports on guys they know aren't likely to enter a draft until their fina…

  20. S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C! Conference play is finally here for the Longhorns and I feel like we will know more on Sunday about this team than what the previous 16 games have taught us. Ole Miss, despite their mid-20s ranking by the polls, is a quality team. They’re 15-3 on the season, with two of those losses being to No. 6 Southern Miss (2-1) and No. 23 Coastal Carolina (9-2). The other was to Baylor (6-5)… a game that went into extra innings. (For transitive property sake, Texas beat BU and CC by a combined score of 13-3.) One thing I do find very interesting is that 64Analytics Top 25 Poll has the Rebels at No. 2 in the country. Unlike their counterparts, t…

  23. Started by Bobby Burton,

I arrived in Austin yesterday morning. And this place is humming. It feels like a big-game weekend here. From the airport at 8am, where I saw literally dozens of Georgia fans streaming off of a flight, to the downtown and the university areas, there’s just a buzz in the air. There’s more Longhorn merchandise being sold and signs on retail stores than I can ever recall. From the Uber driver to the bartender, anywhere you go, anyone you talk to, this game is top of mind. That makes me realize just how excited the fan base is, how big this game is, and likely just how loud DKR is going to be Saturday night. DKR should be a significant home-field…

  24. The University of Texas has the best athletics department in the country after hoisting yet another Director's Cup. It is the fifth Director's Cup in the last six athletic seasons for Chris Del Conte and the Longhorns. With National Championships in volleyball, softball, golf, men's tennis, rowing and track & field in the time span, Texas has certainly added to the trophy room in the north end zone Hall of Fame. Football has come close, women's basketball let one get away, baseball made a trip to Omaha this year and men's basketball is looking promising.
