The team will be back on the practice field today. Most players returned to Austin yesterday afternoon/evening with a few set to return this morning. We are still monitoring the injuries of wide receiver Isaiah Bond and offensive tackle Cameron Williams. Bond did not practice on Monday following the Clemson game. Arizona portal defensive lineman Bill Norton will be visiting Texas this weekend for the spring game. Norton entered the NCAA Transfer Portal April 12 after spending 2023 with Arizona, following four years at Georgia. The former top-100 recruit in the class of 2019 is coming off of his best and most productive season at the college level, in large part due to then-defensive coordinator and now-Texas LB coach Johnny Nansen. We’re halfway through spring practice and I think a couple of themes are becoming evident. First, Texas is clearly a younger team than the last two Steve Sarkisian has put on the field. News broke late last night that President Trump would name former Alabama coach Nick Saban and Texas Tech mega-booster Cody Campbell as co-chairs of a federal commission on college sports. This news came on the heels of the NCAA replying to objections from the judge in the House Settlement surrounding grandfathering scholarships for former players who would have been otherwise cut. Camara is scheduled to take his official visit to Texas during the Ohio State game weekend (Sept. 11-13). After cancelling all of his OVs right before the summer started, this will be his only OV of the process. Out of state 4-star++ visitor on campus Clearwater (Fla.) High 4-star++ right tackle Samuel Roseborough is in Austin visiting his mom for spring break, and has been on campus today. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound ultra athletic tackle is also expected on campus tomorrow to watch the team workouts as part of a two day unofficial visit. Texas softball will have a chance to defend its national title after defeating Arizona State on Sunday afternoon, 5-0, to advance to the Women's College World Series for the third straight season. The Longhorns will look to defend their title in Oklahoma City. I’ve read a lot of conjecture about why Texas would add a scholarship quarterback like Troy transfer Matthew Caldwell. Well, it’s actually pretty simple. There are two driving factors. 1. Caldwell, who started the final five games for Troy last year, has lots of playing experience. He makes it a real competition for Trey Owens for the no. 2 QB spot.
