The Texas Longhorns hold an Elite Camp every summer that's filled with prospects who already hold offers from Texas or are working out in front of the staff in hopes of landing an offer. Typically held the first weekend of June, the Longhorns moved this year's Elite Camp to the last weekend of May due to this year's calendar making the first weekend in June (6-8) an official visit weekend for the burnt orange. The Elite Camp has been a staple of offseason recruiting during the Steve Sarkisian era. This exact camp is where plenty of offers were extended to eventual Longhorns like Jamarion Carlton, Nicolas Robertson, Cameron Hall, and Greedy James amongst others. …

With multiple outlets now reporting it, we can confirm that Syracuse defensive tackle Maraad Watson, who lists at 6-3, 313 pounds, is expected to visit Texas. The visit is slated to begin later this evening. Watson earned freshman All-American honors for the Orangemen in 2024, totaling 30 tackles and 1 sack while being a key piece of a much improved Syracuse defense. Texas has already signed four defensive tackles from the transfer portal. Cole Brevard from Purdue, Hero Kanu from Ohio State, Travis Shaw from North Carolina and Lavon Johnson from Maryland. But with only true sophomore Alex January returning at the position who saw any game action in 2024, Te…

An updated look at defensive line recruiting The Texas Longhorns made three new offers on the defensive line since the start of the 2024 season. And a fourth could be on the way, this time inside the state line. Kenny Baker continues to eye three or four high school defensive line prospects in the 2025 cycle. The Longhorns have one commitment, and it's a huge on in Josiah Sharma. Texas remains in the mix for a potential flip or two as well. OnTexasFootball takes a look at defensive line board with the three new offers in the Atlanta area extended, and Malcolm Simpson entering the picture for Texas. Commitment (1) Josiah Sharma, DL, Folsom (Cali…

On top of the two signees today - Cal tight end Jack Endries and Maryland defensive lineman Lavon Johnson - On Texas Football has learned that the Longhorns are also hosting another official visitor from the transfer portal, Texas State kicker Mason Shipley. Shipley, who played high school ball at nearby Liberty Hill, was 15-15 as a sophomore and 15-19 as a junior with a long of 60 yards last season. Oklahoma is also thought to be under consideration for Shipley. And... Texas is not done in the portal. The Horns will continue to be aggressive. View full news story

Some more odds and ends... ** Special teams: Punt returners were DeAndre Moore followed by Ryan Niblett. Kick returners were Tre Wisner (deep guy) and Niblett. Both field goal kickers (Will Stone and Mason Shipley) missed makable attempts. Stone missed two or three. Again, more than one person in attendance mentioned punter Jack Bouwmeester as one of the more pleasing aspects of the scrimmage. ** Notes on the younger players: - DB Xavier Filsaime filled a hole and stopped Tre Wisner short of the goal line. Filsaime seems to be moving up the depth chart some, or at least solidifying himself as a key back-up. - RB Christian …

The Texas Longhorns now hold four offensive line pledges after Thursday’s commitment from Lucas Rhoa. Rhoa has been recruited to play all five positions at Texas but will likely end up playing guard or right tackle. Dallas South Oak Cliff’s Brian Swanson is a true tackle that can project to playing the left or right side in the SEC. Jackson Cook will likely play center but could have some guard flexibility. Keyon Hemphill-Woods will play guard but could also be a great center. While Texas did have several OVs with O-linemen fall through due to Texas’ doing or the players’ doing, the Longhorns did end up going ⅘ on OL official visitors and ⅔ on OL official visi…

Jamarion Carlton to Make Commitment Decision at 4:00 p.m. It is decision day for 2026 Temple EDGE Jamarion Carlton. There will be four hats on the table this afternoon when the Temple star announces his commitment: LSU, Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech. I believe Baylor has the higher offer on the table for now, and there has been momentum in favor of the Bears since June 20. Though, the relationship with LaAllen Clark should not be counted out. OTF is told that freshman tight end Emaree Winston is out with an injured shoulder that will likely require him to miss at least a couple of months of this season. Winston did not participate in today's scrimmage. The injury came earlier in the week. Winston, a Georgia native, was off to a terrific start in Austin, splitting reps with blue chipper Nick Townsend and holding his own. It's a tough loss from a depth standpoint but Texas still has portal transfer Jack Endries and redshirt sophomore Spencer Shannon who started today's scrimmage with the 1s. Jordan Washington started the second half of scrimmage alongside Endries.

Texas signed 2026 edge Brinley Tita earlier this week to add another piece to its top 10-ranked class. But the Longhorns don't appear as though they're done bolstering the position group. Long Beach City College edge rusher Paul Kouame tells OTF he's currently en route to Austin for an official visit. The 6-foot-3, 242-pounder is coming off a freshman season with the Vikings where he totaled 34 tackles, including three tackles for a loss, and two sacks. Kouame is originally from City Honors College High School in Inglewood. This is the only official visit Kouame currently has set. View full news story
