Team Notes from Week One of Spring Ball *** Day three of spring ball wrapped up this morning. Next up for the team is a week off for spring break, followed by the pads coming on in 10 days for spring ball practice #4. Some notes from the first week of practice from my end. Update on the Quarterback QB Arch Manning remains sidelined for the first week of practice. He began throwing, but continues to see the training staff after the initial team stretch. The expectation is Manning will be very close to a return come the first few practices after spring break. Still, these reps remain invaluable for KJ Lacey as he begins to work with the first …

Mel Kiper Jr. mocked the 2025 NFL Draft for the first time on Wednesday. Kiper’s mock draft had one Texas player in the first round with Kelvin Banks Jr. going No. 11 overall to the San Francisco 49ers. According to Kiper, Banks will be the second offensive lineman selected with the Chicago Bears taking Will Campbell of LSU at No. 10. It’s hard to imagine a unanimous All-American who won the Lombardi Award and the Outland Trophy, allowed only four sacks and 34 total pressures on 1,475 pass-blocking opportunities in his career and has 42 games of starting experience at a premium position lasting until pick No. 11. The portal opened just one week ago today. Think about all that has happened since. Texas has added four players in just seven days (five in nine days). The five-star prospect has been to Texas plenty of times and spoke about the familiarity of the program and relationship with Kyle Flood. I’ve spent the better part of the last week trying to delve deeper into the complex issues surrounding the proposed House Settlement, a class action settlement between former and current NCAA athletes and the NCAA and its member institutions which choose to opt in to the settlement. Texas women's basketball made a big splash on the recruiting trail on Thursday, landing 6-foot-7 center Jayla Forbes out of Monteverde Academy in Florida, she announced on her social media. Forbes chose the Longhorns over a long list of offers that included Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and UCLA, among others. The newest UT pledge has long been a top target of the Texas staff's, visiting earlier this year for a multi-day stay when the Longhorns faced Kentucky. NFL mock drafts 2027: Is Texas talent overrated or underrated? One of the main things said and written leading up to the 2026 season is Texas is the "most talented roster" in college football this season. Another is Texas is a National Champion favorite in big part because of the talent level in the program, even though the most NFL talented team didn't win the National Championship last year. How about a flyover for the ULM game! Back to back weeks of Texas going all out for its home environment. 1st Quarter Texas will receive to begin the football game.
