Three of those players, at one time or another, felt like Texas leans: North Shore defensive back Chace Calicut, Georgia linebacker Zavier Griffin and New Jersey defensive tackle Damari Simeon. So what happened between the two parties on the way to the altar? With each it’s a different story. Calicut was drawn to the idea of playing corner. Griffin was somewhat miffed by the idea of the Horns recruiting Tyler Atkinson allegedly and had ties to Tuscaloosa. Simeon received a better NIL offer elsewhere. Texas lost out on Ezavier Crowell last night; the Alabama native decided to stay home and play for the Crimson Tide. But life goes on. My dog still wanted to play tug of war after he ate this morning. The sun still rose in the East. And sure enough, my wife still asked me if I took out the trash and recycle last night. Ezavier Crowell announcement thread OTF 4-star++ running back Ezavier Crowell (Jackson, Ala./High) is set to announce his commitment at around 6pm CST today. This one is expected to be Alabama or Texas, with Auburn and Georgia rounding out the four in contention. Steve Sarkisian is personally in this recruitment, and Texas is giving it everything they have. If Crowell picks Alabama, it will be besting a completely all in effort by the Longhorns. It was quite the day for the Longhorns, as they landed two players out of the portal who will immediately make the team better. We first saw Texas get a commitment from Stanford’s Temo Becerra. While he can essentially play any infield position, he should start at shortstop. It’s worth noting that the staff feels he’s better defensively than UVA’s Eric Becker. Offensively Becerra is solid. BANG! The Longhorns make a huge splash with a commitment from 2026 five-star EDGE Richard Wesley. After a previous commitment to Oregon, Wesley re-opened his recruitment earlier in the spring, and following his official visit to Texas, the Longhorns end up with the verbal pledge.
