The portal flood gates are open and the Longhorns are benefitting already. Texas is expected to land former Purdue DL Cole Brevard out of the portal after a trip to campus this week. Brevard is a 330-pound defensive lineman who started for Purdue for the past two seasons. The Longhorns are looking at four as the number out of the portal on the defensive line and Brevard becomes the first of the portal bunch to join the class. View full news story

Texas DB commit Zelus Hicks has reclassified to the 2025 cycle. Our Gerry Hamilton had hinted at this move for a couple of months now and a month prior to signing day, it comes to fruition. The Longhorns will need to hold onto Hicks' pledge for one final month here. Hicks of course was at Tennessee over the weekend so the race isn't entirely over. However, his move into the 2025 class means the Texas Longhorns now have defensive backs of Hicks and Jonah Williams in the current cycle. Tremendous duo. View full news story

Texas was on the practice field Tuesday night under the lights. Of course Quinn Ewers and Jahdae Barron spoke with the media after the practice. *** One thing of note to pass along after practice tonight in the RB room. Two new bodies got looks carrying the football with the running backs this evening — TE Juan Davis and WR Ryan Niblett. The drought is over! Texas is back on the board with the commitment of 2026 Mayde Creek LB Kosi Okpala Thursday morning. Okpala chose the Longhorns over Penn State, Baylor, Houston and Miami (Fl.). Texas adds its first linebacker of the class with the addition of Okpala. The 6–2, 230-pound backer saw plenty of time off the edge with 29 tackles for loss over the last two seasons. The middle of the field is where Okpala projects at the next level for the Texas defense, but his edge rusher talents certainly provide that versatility that has become so coveted from the Texas staff. Texas hoops: Scrimmage vs. SMU Sean Miller's first season at Texas begins in 20 days in Charlotte, N.C. vs. the Duke Blue Devils. This weekend, Miller and staff will get a good feel for where they are at with the SMU Mustangs headed to Austin for a closed door scrimmage. An early Flipmas gift! Texas has flipped 2026 Portage Central (MN) tight end Charlie Jilek from Minnesota! A quiet process behind the scenes comes to light as the Longhorns steal away a future B1G tight end to add to their 2026 class. Jilek had been committed to Minnesota since October 1st. The 6-foot-5-inch tight end holds offers from UCF, Minnesota, and nine others. Approaching the Offensive Line Over the Next Few Weeks Texas ran the football 36 times for roughly 4-yards per clip against Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. In total, 136 yards were racked up in the win over what is still the nation's No. 10 ranked rushing defense. It was a sight for sore eyes, especially after the circus show that traveled to The Swamp where only 15 rushing yards were accumulated by running backs.
