Cal tight end Jack Endries is likely someone the Longhorns will try to go after in the portal. At 6-4, 240, Endries was a freshman All-American two years ago and then caught 56 passes a year ago. He is rated the no. 2 returning tight end in the country by Pro Football Focus. He is expected to enter the portal tomorrow. Indiana, Alabama and Miami are expected to be among the suitors. Portal Thoughts The Texas 2026 portal class has 13 members headed into January 13 with a number of key needs remaining. Key needs are offensive line, linebacker, EDGE and possibly one more player in the secondary. Some thoughts... - I like where Texas sits overall right now. - I think any suppositions on Cam Coleman or Jayden Woods are going to be misguided and/or premature. Just a quick update here. Colin Simmons, Ryan Wingo, Anthony Hill and Arch Manning have all been expected to return to Texas, and they indeed will. But we're now starting to hear about others who are definitively returning next season. While we won't report on everyone in that regard because the Horns are expected to retain the vast majority of players, we will mention a few here and there we think are important. We're hearing USC transfer offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon could announce his decision as soon as today. Pregnon, who is 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, has started for two years for the Trojans and was named second team All-Big 10 this past season. Pregnon visited Texas over the weekend. Here's where we are: Yesterday, redshirt sophomore DE J'Mond Tapp announced he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal. Tapp's entrance makes four Longhorns to do so in the last week. Texas will host San Jose State cornerback Jayvion Cole for a visit beginning around noon this afternoon. Cole will remain on campus for his visit with Texas through Saturday as the staff presents its best pitch to the All-Mountain West honorable mention in 2023. The Longhorns are looking to add to the cornerback room following the portal departures of Terrance Brooks and Austin Jordan earlier in the portal window. According to PFF, Cole allowed 22 receptions in 48 targets for a 45.8% completion percentage against. PFF awarded Cole an 84.0 grade in coverage and a 86.2 grade overall defensively. The news of Louisville running back Isaac Brown entering the portal is one to watch. While most of the portal attention for Texas fans at running back has centered around the decision of Florida's Jaden Baugh, Brown is someone we've mentioned on multiple broadcasts. He is a big-time home run hitter. He averaged more than 8 yards per carry in 2025, finishing the season with 884 yards on 101 carries. In 2023 as a freshman, he recorded 1175 yards rushing on 165 carries. In 2025 alone, he had five runs of longer than 50 yards. He is a mix between Tre Wisner and Jaydon Blue IMO. Texas inked 24 prospects in the first signing day period for the 2025 class and currently sit with the No. 1 class in all of the land. From a broader perspective, this is a win for Texas. A big win. Quarterback - Small, nuanced changes with Quinn Ewers. He's only built upon last year's conditioning improvements. Arch Manning and Trey Owens both have very strong arms and will be more than capable when their time comes. Running Back - The inclusion of Tre Wisner by Sark in yesterday's post-practice media availability was clearly deliberate. Wisner may not be no. 1 or 2 on the depth chart, but he has worked himself into a situation where Sark thinks he's going to contribute significantly to this team from the backfield. Grading the Portal Additions by Position *** The final names are appearing today in the transfer portal and while players from Indiana and Miami still have some time to make their decisions, we are reaching the ultimately finality of the chaotic two week span that was Portal Madness. Texas Commits Locked In After OV Weekend #1 *** There were two very consistent themes from official visitors coming out of weekend one for the Texas Longhorns. For committed prospects, many scrapped the idea of visiting elsewhere following the June 5th visit. For the uncommitted visitors, there were talks of moving up decision timelines. I think for folks who have followed recruiting for a while now, hearing both of these trends coming out of official visit weekends would be considered a positive for the host school. I'm told this morning that there's a good chance Texas third baseman Adrian Rodriguez returns to the diamond this weekend, as the Horns head to Lexington to face Kentucky. While it's not set in stone as of this this update, a source close to the program feels optimistic we'll see the freshman phenom in action. Rodriguez has been out since the Horns sweep of Missouri. He is batting .326 at the plate, with 31 hits, 14 RBIs, and 5 home runs. As OTF has reported previously, Rodriguez has been "structurally fine" but Texas wanted to hold him out until he wasn't hurting.

As Steve Sarkisian has started his spring practice exit interviews, there has been some potential movement behind the scenes. Just so everyone is aware, we are hearing of a returning Longhorns defensive starter potentially hitting the portal. However, no decision has been finalized to our knowledge. And I want to make sure everyone understands I italicized the word “potentially” for a reason. We’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours and update accordingly. The deadline to enter the portal ends April 30.

With the season coming to a close, it’s time for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff to move on and look to the future. Now it’s all about building on this past season and improving for the future. The NCAA baseball portal window officially opened on June 1st and it will run through July 2nd. As of Monday afternoon, I am expecting the Horns to lose at least four players to the portal.
