BREAKING: I am told that Ryan Wingo is very close to finalizing his deal to return to Texas. An announcement could come as soon as today. Pairing Wingo with Cam Coleman and Emmett Mosley will give the Longhorns one of the elite receiving units in the country. Wingo finished 2025 with 54 catches for 837 yards and seven TDs, leading the Longhorns in all three receiving categories. ** Texas OL Nick Brooks announced that he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Despite the 48-hour rule before being placed in the portal, I am told that a possible return to Texas for Brooks is highly unlikely. ** Colorado OL Jordan Seaton has not official…

Texas Hoops: One more big; international prospects in play Sean Miller and staff have three more spots to fill on the 2025-26 roster. As it stands now, the Texas roster has already appeared in some way too early top 25 rankings. But the work is far from done. Texas will add one more big, and the Horns lead big for 6-10 rebounder and defender Lassina Traore. Miller will also add one more combo guard to the squad, with the requirements being ball handler and perimeter threat with enough size (likely 6-3/6-4). More on that below. Miller has addressed the needed height and length in the program. The current Texas roster now features five players that stand 6…

I’m amazed. I probably shouldn’t be, given that I’ve been covering college football and the Longhorns for 30+ years. But it still gets me every time. The sheer amount of people who expect absolute perfection on every snap, in every game, and from every player with no or little regard to their experience level, their talent level or the talent and experience level of their opponents. I’m not talking about fair, honest critiques. I’m talking about the folks who don’t seem to understand that context matters. ** I would also like to remind folks who want to fire this coach or that coach, it was just four short years ago that Texas went 5-7. …

Tip your cap. And move on. That’s my best advice to a Texas team who was clearly beaten by a superior Georgia squad. Yet there are valuable takeaways, things you just can’t do and expect to compete and win. Nine penalties to one. Three outright busted coverages. Giving up an onside kick. Four drops. Texas has had issues like that all year long. The drops and penalties, especially. Issues like that don’t suddenly disappear in game 10 against a top five opponent. While the Texas players were out-performed, so too were the Texas coaches at key times. After his lead was cut to 4 points midway through the third quarter, Kirby Smart produced a mast…

Thoughts on the Portal So Far *** This is going to be a really interesting week for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the final names entering the portal will pop up over the next 36 hours or so. We should see the final entrants announced by Tuesday night at the latest. Keep in mind players from Miami and Indiana will have a full five more days after tonight's National Title game to announce their plans to enter as well. For Texas the positions of need remain on the offensive line, and an edge rusher. Will there by a surprise pick up or two? I won't count that out. I don't think many forecasted the additions of OL Jonte Neman or LB Markus …

Steve Sarkisian will be in the market for a new running backs coach. Chad Scott is out as the Longhorns RB coach OTF can confirm – Football Scoop was the first to report. Scott was hired by Steve Sarkisian on February 19, 2025 and his tenure ends only ten months in. The Texas running back room was rather lackluster for a number of reasons in 2025, and as the team looks to reset its room in 2026, they will be looking for a new coach to command the room. Former Oregon State OL Dylan Sikorski Signs With Texas *** Texas adds its first offensive lineman of the 2026 portal window! Former Oregon State guard Dylan Sikorski has committed to the Longhorns following a two-day visit in Austin. Sikorski started six games for the Beavers in 2025, amassing 444 snaps and playing in a total of eight games. The redshirt freshman has three years of eligibility remaining and is currently listed at 6-foot-4 and 332 pounds. He will compete for a spot at guard in 2026. Per PFF, Sikorski's best pass blocking games came against Texas Tech (84.1) and Cal (88.1). He allowed 1 sack and eight pressures on the se…

Some thoughts... - I like where Texas sits overall right now. - I think any suppositions on Cam Coleman or Jayden Woods are going to be misguided and/or premature. They'll both take multiple visits and go from there. - I think it's a positive sign that Arkansas DL Ian Geffrard came back a second day on his visit. - I think the two starting Michigan OLs - Andrew Sprague and Jake Guarena - would be excellent additions. - Texas seems to be attempting to shore up its kicking game in one weekend. Both Gianni Spetic, a kicker from Memphis, and Mac Chiumento, a punter from Florida State, are on campus currently. - I will be surprised if Wyoming OL W…

Longhorn players must make an NFL decision by Jan. 15, which is this coming Wednesday. For this article, I am focused solely on the NFL decisions of those Longhorns with eligibility remaining. This is what we're hearing: - QB Quinn Ewers - as we've said all along, Quinn's plan is to declare for the NFL draft. - RB Jaydon Blue - conjecture has been all over the place; from returning to Texas, to entering the draft, to entering the portal. His value to Texas has increased of late. Sark needs touchdown scorers and Blue has been deadly in the passing game (scoring TDs against A&M, Clemson and Ohio State). - WR Matthew Golden - despite some efforts…

An early Flipmas gift! Bang, bang, choo-choo train! The Longhorns make a big splash in the 2026 cycle with a flip of 2026 Miami Northwestern (Fla.) DL James Johnson from Georgia to the Horns! Johnson originally chose the Bulldogs over the Longhorns on June 28, and just two weeks later, he makes a flip into the Longhorns' class to join the class of 2026. Texas became a significant player for Johnson as the spring progressed and there was buzz about a commitment following his official visit in June. As we have seen time and time again, Texas continues to stick on guys they want in the class and those efforts are already paying off with the flip of the f…

Portal: The positions and the targets The portal is open, and Texas is expected to host up to 13 visitors this weekend. There are already prospect on campus, and en route to Austin. That group is headlined by Jayden Woods and Cam Coleman. OnTexasFootball provides a position by position look at what Texas wants in the portal cycle. Note: TBA ... means to be announced. OTF does know of a number of names here at various positions, and will have more when the timing is right. This is a true battle with other programs to get guys to campus, so discretion is needed at various points in the process. Running back (2)... Isaac Brown, Homestead (Fla.)…
