- Today’s practice was described as being on the lighter side, in the sense that there wasn’t much tackling/going to the ground. - Two areas of emphasis today, offensively, was the running game and working on screens. - There wasn’t a ton of action for the WRs today through the air. We mentioned this morning that Jonah Williams is practicing more completely with the team. Now we can report fellow blue chip freshman DB Kade Phillips is no longer truly limited either. Both had been nursing hamstring issues to start training camp. One more note: Williams has seen brief action as a kick returner. ** I’m told freshman wide receiver Kaliq Lockett seems to be improving on a regular basis. That we can now confirm. I had gotten it from one source but @cjvogel also got it from another. There were a couple of extra curricular activities during the live action between the offense and defense. Upon the second one occurring, Sark wasn’t playing around anymore. Texas RT Andre Cojoe to Miss 2025 Season A significant blow to the depth of the offensive line has hit the Texas Longhorns. Texas right tackle Andre Cojoe will miss the entirety of the 2025 season with a knee injury according to sources. Texas offensive coordinator and OL coach Kyle Flood stated Cojoe and Brandon Baker would be in competition this fall for the starting right tackle position. This is especially unfortunate considering Cojoe entered fall camp in the best shape of his Texas career. A very unfortunate situation for Cojoe and we wish him a speedy recovery. Texas received some unfortunate injury news over the weekend, as starting right tackle contender Andre Cojoe has been ruled out for the season. Cojoe had been in the best physical condition of his career and was competing closely with sophomore Brandon Baker for the starting job at right tackle. I was reminded by someone yesterday that most of the first week is always “install” for the coming season. That means getting players - all players, not just the first-line units - to understand key aspects of the offense and defense, and doing the things in live action that the coaches have talked about and shown to the players on the proverbial chalkboard for months. Install is mostly a learning phase of training camp. But it’s also an opportunity for coaches to see which players can ingest (or have already ingested) the material and put it into practice. They take the day off today and get back at it on Monday. ** I am told each practice consistently became more and more physical as the week progressed. Texas will hold its fourth practice of training camp later today. It’s scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, just like last night. The first two practices were held in the mid-afternoon of the Texas heat. They’re meant to get a team prepared for the worst conditions. The team got a real feel for that.
