New Linebacker Target on Campus *** Texas is hosting former Florida State linebacker Justin Cryer for a visit Friday morning, On Texas Football has learned. Cryer, listed at 6-foot-1 and 238 pounds, started eight games for Noles and appeared in all 12 in 2025. For his career, Cryer has over 730 snaps ranging over three seasons. Cryer attended Royal High School in Brookshire, Texas right outside of Houston. His brother, LJ Cryer, was a star hooper at Houston and is now on the Golden State Warriors. View full news story

Will Texas add to the 2026 recruiting class? The Texas Longhorns signed a Top 10 class in early December with 23 signees. At the time, there weren't any visible signs or conversations behind the scene that Steve Sarkisian and staff would add anyone else to class. OnTexasFootball can report that Texas is looking for developmental prospects on the offensive line and defensive line with scholarships going to 105. Texas isn’t done yet in the 2026 class! The Longhorns secure a commitment from 2026 DL Elijah Ali after an official visit this weekend. Ali intends to sign with Texas on signing day February 4th. Ali is listed as a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman. The Gardena, California native will join the Longhorns in the summer after his signature on the final signing day period. The refs didn’t call Purdue for pushing off for offensive rebounds all night. So they weren’t going to start with the game on the line. And that’s what ultimately did Texas in. The Boilermakers, after shoving Daylan Swain under the basket, tipped back in a missed shot with less than a second remaining to end the Horns’ cinderalla NCAA tourney run. Straight from the Boot! Texas adds to its 2026 class with a commitment from CB Hayward Howard Jr. out of Edna Karr High School in Louisiana. Howard made his commitment official in a ceremony of his high school gymnasium Friday afternoon. The Longhorns hosted Howard Jr. for an unofficial visit on April 12 where he and the family were blown away on the visit.
