Gregory was thought to be deciding between Texas, Wisconsin, Texas Tech and Kansas State. The Longhorns and Wildcats (somewhat surprisingly) were thought to be the primary competitors. Scott was hired by Steve Sarkisian on February 19, 2025 and his tenure ends only ten months in. NCAA Tournament: Texas vs. N.C. State Game Thread Texas (18-14) takes on the N.C. State Wolfpack (20-13) tonight in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The game tonight is a rematch of a contest in November at the Maui Invitational. Texas won the first meeting 102-97 November 26. Texas hit a season-best 16-32 from the three-point line.
