Just a few team notes from this week: * New cornerbacks Jay'Vion Cole and Santana Wilson have both been working primarily on install this week. They both needed to get the calls down, understand the nuances of Texas' defense, etc. Over the next few weeks, they'll go more and more in depth with that with coaches. Cole's combo of quickness and athleticism has been impressive so far in workouts. * Colton Vasek was recently described by one source as one of the most pleasant surprises of the spring. Big time out of state visitor Wednesday OnTexasFootball has learned that Sunshine State 4-star wide receiver and Oregon commitment Dallas Wilson (Tampa, Fla./Tech) is scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Texas June 5 per a source close to the recruitment in Tampa. Wilson, 6-2.75 and 185 pounds with 10 inch hands, was offered by the Longhorns in September of 2023. Special teams coach and area recruiter Jeff Banks made the offer to Wilson. Since that time Banks and Chris Jackson have been on contact with the wide receiver with tremendous balance and body control. That didn't take long! The Texas Longhorns have their new kicker with the commitment of former Texas State K Mason Shipley. Texas hosted Shipley on campus this afternoon and quickly get the deal done. Shipley had previously been at Oklahoma and had been courted by a number of other programs. Official visit season is over, now commitment season begins. And we should be seeing some pre-July 4th fireworks in favor of Texas in the coming days/weeks. This week alone, five Texas targets are scheduled to commit. Keyword here is: scheduled. Sunday Recruiting News: Two weekend OV's The Texas staff hosted a pair of official visitors from the Sunshine State this weekend. Ohio State has won the National Championship. Oh, to be a student on campus at the time of a National Title win in football. New Linebacker Target on Campus *** Texas is hosting former Florida State linebacker Justin Cryer for a visit Friday morning, On Texas Football has learned. Cryer, listed at 6-foot-1 and 238 pounds, started eight games for Noles and appeared in all 12 in 2025. For his career, Cryer has over 730 snaps ranging over three seasons. But yesterday Jermayne Lole, a defensive tackle originally from Long Beach Poly by way of both Arizona State and Louisville, officially pledged to the Longhorns.
