Yesterday, the NCAA Rules Oversight Committee voted to endorse a new transfer portal timeline, one that starts Jan. 2 of 2026 and lasts 10 days. The new timeline would restrict transfers to a single window of time instead of having two different ones as is the case currently (one window after the regular season in December and then another after spring ball in April/May). That endorsement of the Oversight Committee carries a lot of weight, but it is not final. The Rules Administration Committee must act before Oct. 1 of this year for it to become the transfer portal rule in January of 2026. Steve Sarkisian will be on the hunt for yet another assistant coach. Terry Joseph will be leaving the Longhorns to take a job with the New Orleans Saints OTF can confirm, first reported by Anwar Richardson. It was announced late last week that Joseph would be making the jump from corners coach to defensive pass game coordinator and safeties coach after Texas brought in Mark Orphey from Rutgers to coach cornerbacks. Joseph played a large role in the development of 2024 Thorpe Award winner Jahdae Barron and helped produce Ryan Watts into an NFL Draft pick as well. View full news story

Big week for Texas recruiting To say this is a big week for Texas football recruiting, and a big close to the month would be an understatement. Steve Sarkisian and staff are now in a position for some key recruitments to fall their way with the flip of Kade Phillips and Michael Fasusi have been trending away. So what did you think of Arch Manning? In my eyes, he was equal parts terrific yet still very human. He showed glimpses of why he was rated the nation’s No. 1 ranked QB while also being a first-time starter. That deep ball to Isaiah Bond? To Matthew Golden? Things of beauty. My single biggest takeaway from yesterday was the central theme of what I had been hearing behind the scenes. Texas is extremely talented headed into 2026. Easton Royal: Post visit update Texas commit and 4-star++ wide receiver Easton Royal made a two day unofficial visit over the weekend with his mom. Yesterday was obviously not the news any of us wanted to hear. Starting running back Cedric Baxter has been lost for the season with a knee injury sustained in Tuesday's practice. Baxter will have surgery soon and begin the rehabilitation process that is expected to last roughly six-to-eight months. Hopefully he'll be back and ready for spring practice. The Texas baseball team showed a little spine yesterday. In the rubber match between the Horns and Mississippi State, Texas went down 5-0 in the first inning. Lesser teams would have folded tent.
