Portal recruiting is moving at full speed for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The Longhorns hosted three visitors over the weekend. While I can't put out one of those names, two that did visit include a pair of prospects from Virginia. OF Henry Ford and INF Eric Becker both took in a visit to the Forty Acres later in the weekend and, as of last night, were still on campus. Monday update on 5-star WR Dakorien Moore The headliner of a loaded visit weekend at Texas April 5-6 was Duncanville (Texas) High 5-star wide receiver and LSU commit Dakorien Moore. Moore made the trip from Dallas to Austin with his mom, who is from Austin. There were a number of family members that took part in the visit that live in the Austin area, including two of Dakorien's uncles. Some notes from Moore's visit 1. What happened over the weekend? Well, Sark told us that true freshman Jermaine Bishop worked at corner the entire summer. And he compared Bishop to his previous experiences with three first-round picks - John Ross of Washington, Devonta Smith of Alabama and Adoree Jackson of USC. Sark said he'll push Bishop back over to offense at the start of fall camp. But the mere fact that he thinks so much of the true freshman that he is even attempting to try him at both spots should be a telling sign to all. Bishop isn't your typical freshman. Steve Sarkisian’s absence from Saturday’s Junior Day took the juice out of an otherwise productive day on the Forty Acres. Unfortunate circumstances aside, the head coach's not making it into the office during an important recruiting weekend is a big deal. Whether it was hosting a recruit who might’ve been ready to make the call and pick Texas or a prospect the Longhorns could’ve furthered their chances with after an on-campus meeting with Sarkisian, Saturday’s event was one the program couldn’t fully maximize. We are monitoring multiple Longhorn players who could enter the portal this week. This group includes existing starters and key back-ups. In fact, we believe at least one existing starter is likely to hit the portal. We will not release that name in case he ultimately decides to return. But at this point, we think the player has already made that decision. We are also monitoring the NFL decisions of Cam Williams, Trey Moore, DJ Campbell and Michael Taaffe. We remain on Monshun Sales watch entering the new week. As OTF has reported, we believe this is more Indiana vs. Texas of late as the five-star receiver works towards a commitment. There's no decision date set, but we continue to look at July 10 as a good marker for when there could be some finality to Sales' process. Talking to a source on Monday, communication remains ongoing between Sales and the Longhorns staff, including a lengthy conversation on Sunday. According to sources, Texas wide receiver DeAndre Moore has told Texas staffers that he intends to enter his name into the NFL Draft. Moore will miss the Citrus Bowl because of a lingering toe issue that has had him in a boot for the last two weeks. Moore, a junior, has an additional year of college eligibility but has told Texas that he intends to enter the draft. He caught 38 passes this season for 532 yards and four touchdowns. In 2024, he totaled 39 catches and seven TDs. Texas expects receivers Ryan Wingo, Emmett Mosley V and Parker Livingstone to return in 2026. View full news story
