  3. Texas kicked off summer conditioning this morning, the start of the next phase of the offseason in Austin, Texas. For those wondering, S Jonah Williams will be eased into workouts over the next week as the baseball season concluded, there is a plan to give him some time to catch his breath before being thrust right back into preparation for the 2026 football season. One nugget for next spring I can share is the plan is for Williams to lift with the football teams multiple times each week despite being in the middle of the baseball season. But of course, that is basically eight months away at this point. When Williams does arrive for summer workouts, that will me…

  4. I’m here in Destin, Fla., for the SEC Spring Meetings. Late this afternoon, commissioner Greg Sankey kicked things off with a press conference. Here are my five biggest takeaways from the presser. - In direct response to my question, Sankey declined to answer exactly what rules and/or bylaws that conference leaders would be discussing this week. That leaves us guessing what is in store for the remainder of the week when athletic directors join the conversation beginning tomorrow. Stay tuned! - Sankey did not categorize himself as a proponent of a 24-team playoff. Rather, he said he was not an “opponent” of it. In doing so, he also took a small swipe at…

  6. 5-star Brysen Wright speaks highly of Texas OnTexasFootball stopped by Mandarin High in Jacksonville, Fla. Friday to see one of the top 20 of prospects in the class of 2028. Brysen Wright is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound wide receiver with 39 offers, including the Longhorns May 15 of 2025. Texas wide receivers coach Chris Jackson was by Mandarin High Thursday, which made for perfect timing of an OTF school visit. What impressed me Friday ... His talent is undeniable, so we will leave that to the HUDL tape linked below. He's a very naturally gifted receiver with smooth feet, that is also a physical presence when lined up at safety out of necessity. Wright…

  8. 5-star EDGE setting up official visit One of the top prospects on the board for Texas in the 2026 cycle is Richard Wesley (Chatsworth, Calif./Sierra Canyon). The 6-foot-5, 255-pound recent reclass from 2027 to 2026 made his first visit to Texas over the weekend. He was accompanied by his father and trainer. The visit went extremely well for the Longhorns, and now Texas is firmly in the picture along with Oregon and USC according to a source close to the recruitment. Ohio State and Notre Dame are also in play. In fact, the source said it's "One hundred percent" that Texas will receive a June official visit. The family is in the process of locki…

  14. OTF brings you Friday morning updates on each Texas target ranked as a top 32 prospect on the three major rankings sites. Easton Royal, WR, New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin — AGNB27 — Texas is currently holding off LSU, Florida, Tennessee, and Ole Miss but it’s the Tigers and Gators who should be viewed as the main competition to the Longhorns. There’s not much new to report here: Texas, LSU, and Florida all have some form of optimism that they’ll sign the five-star wideout come December. However, it’s Texas who has the coveted seat given the Longhorns are the school with the commitment. Now they have to hold on as official visit season gets moving. With Texas s…

  16. Five-star Duncanville WR Dakorien Moore will make his college decision tomorrow on the 4th of July. The final four for Moore includes Texas, Oregon, Ohio State and LSU. Oregon has been on a hot trail over the last ten days on the recruiting trail. However, I have continued to feel good about the Longhorns' standing since his OV. The decision in my eyes will come down to the Longhorns and the Ducks. View full news story

  17. The final post of our coverage from the NFL Combine includes a Mock Draft of the Texas NFL Draft hopefuls. Of course, there will be plenty more coverage come the Texas Pro Day, but the 50 day mark until April 24 is a great time to check back in on where I am expecting the current batch of Longhorns to go in the 2025 NFL Draft. Just like the previous post, the draft prediction is on the left and I added where I had the players going previously in the mock draft 1.0 on the right side of the graphic. Let me know what you think. Mock Draft 3.0 will come in about six weeks, basically the week of the Draft. *** *** R1, Pick 11 – San Fransisco Sele…

  20. Texas baseball will see the first pitch of the season in just nine days from the time of this article. The Longhorns will head to Arlington for the season opening tournament where they will face Louisville on Friday, Ole Miss on Saturday and Oklahoma State to wrap the trip up on Sunday. Arlington has not been friendly to Texas Baseball in the last – well, name a time – but the new era of Jim Schlossnagle could indicate a change of fortune at the home of the Texas Rangers. We will see. But until first pitch is thrown, there are plenty of thoughts leading the way for me about this upcoming season. Let's get to it. *** 1st Inning: Sticks Will Be Hot …

  21. Today, the rest of college sports is finding out what Texas fans already knew. Texas Tech is a joke. It’s leadership, it’s moral compass. Anything and everything about the school and how it conducts itself is awash in the putrid smell of the vomit emanating via the gall of its biggest donor. Texas Tech backed its quarterback who bet on his own team and who earlier today received an injunction from a court that will make him eligible to play this season. It’s an outrageous outcome that is only eclipsed by the outrageous response of its mega-donor and chairman of the board, Cody Campbell. “This unfortunate situation is the outcome of a broken system…

  22. BIG UPDATE: — After two straight series losses against Arkansas and Florida, the Longhorns look to rebound this weekend (starting tonight) against a tough Oklahoma squad. Let's just get right to the question that is on everyone's mind... Will OF Max Belyeu play this weekend? I spoke with a couple of sources just a few minutes ago and was told that nothing is certain as of Thursday morning. The good news is that Belyeu is listed as "probable" on the SEC injury report. He took in batting practice yesterday and will this morning as well. It's doubtful you'll see him roaming the outfield, but I do believe you'll see Belyeu at the …

  23. What a wild few days following Texas baseball. From staff changes to high school commitments to picking up portal prospects, it's safe to say Jim Schlossnagle and his team kept me on my toes all weekend. There was a lot happening in a little amount of time, so here's a recap in case you missed it all. Let's start with the coaching/staff changes. On Sunday morning we received word that Texas assistant coach Michael Earley would be named the new head coach at Texas A&M. Earley came with Schloss over from the Aggies and was intended to be a hitting coach in Austin. Earley is also taking Caleb Longley with him. Longley spent the last few years in Austin under D…

  24. A few more scrimmage notes Some more scrimmage notes that have trickled in since last night. * Offense was bland for vast majority of scrimmage. A little jet sweep looks, but not as much pre-snap motion Saturday as Sark has in game plans and in-game * Offensive line has somethings they need to clean up. Still need to be more physical in the run game consistently at G-C-G. The source believes defense will likely carry Texas at Ohio State, then the OL and offense will have three games to gel plus the off week headed into the Florida game. * Defensive speed off snap really sped up Arch first couple of series. Arch slowed down as the scrimmage progresse…

  25. Since yesterday, I've asked some deeper questions and a few follow ups to folks based on what I was told much of yesterday. Some thoughts: - First of all, to a person, everyone said Quinn Ewers looked poised, in control, and delivered the ball with authority. - Second, to a person, everyone said the first team OL dominated the first team defensive line, particularly in pass protection. There were wide lanes in the run game, too, particularly in the red zone. - There were some mixed comments regarding the wide receivers. I was told more than once that there may not have been more than one or two contested catches made all day by the group. No wide recei…
