The Texas Longhorns have landed another out of state commitment, this time from Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson safety Junior Tu’upo. The Longhorns went into the Yellowhammer State and won out for Tu’upo despite the 6-foot-3, 190 pounder being an hour away from Alabama and two hours away from Auburn. Yesterday evening, the University of Texas and Texas A&M sent a joint letter to Texas US Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn voicing their disapproval of the Protect College Sports Act. It’s the first time either school has voiced its opposition to the bill. Best Class Scenario: June 28 It's time for the latest Best Class Scenario for the 2027 class as the calendar is close to turning to July. Following three weekends of official visits, the scenarios for the class headed into the season are pretty clear. Last week, I said I would check in to see how the coaches retreat went. I’m told it started near Town Lake. That’s where all the coaches gathered and were placed in groups. Their goal? Row to the other side of the lake and back. I’m told it was near impossible and it took all of an hour. Coaches had an issue synchronizing their strokes, one of the boats almost tipped, etc. It was a near disaster. But that was the whole point of Coach Dave O’Neill, the rowing coach, who led the exercise. It was a lesson about how tough it can be to make a group of individuals into a team, about how there may be 5 or 6 doing things right, but all it takes is one to …

Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, one of the state's top prospects, visited Texas a couple of weekends ago despite being committed to Texas Tech at the time. He also visited Florida and LSU. It's expected that Brewster will eventually de-commit from Texas Tech sometime this summer, with LSU being the new front-runner for his services. Texas will continue to monitor and keep in touch with Brewster because they like him that much. But LSU appears to be the winner at this time. Florida is thought to be out of the race entirely.

On Texas Football has confirmed that Texas is set to hire Oregon assistant coach Jack Marder and former Texas/Texas A&M assistant Caleb Longley. Marder is a former Oregon player and was the Ducks assistant coach, serving as hitting coach, catchers coach and recruiting coordinator under Mark Wasikowski. He helped land Baseball America’s No. 5 recruiting class in 2022, while also earning national recognition as one of college baseball’s rising assistant coaches. Every year, Texas signs a recruit or two that are relatively highly ranked but don’t get the national attention they ultimately deserve. Graceson Littleton was that player a year ago. Perhaps Rocky Cummings or Kosi Okpala turns into that player in the 2026 recruiting class. Texas loaded with NBA talent in 2026-27 The preseason polls will have the 2026-27 Texas Longhorns basketball team ranked anywhere from No. 7 to No. 12. The team was very well constructed by Sean Miller and staff with pieces that fit, and a number of those pieces will have futures in pro basketball.
