Exactly one week after national signing day and three weeks before Michigan is set to take on Texas in the Citrus Bowl, the Wolverines fired head coach Sherrone Moore for cause. With the departure of Chad Scott yesterday, the Horns are now in need of an RB coach. One name to watch for: Jabbar Juluke, formerly of Florida. Another with less certain availability is Frank Wilson of LSU. Texas RB CJ Baxter is set to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal when it opens January 2nd. ESPN's Pete Thamel was the first to break the news that the Texas running back will opt out of the bowl game and enter the portal when it opens on January 2nd. I can add this had been a growing possibility since the Kentucky game in Moncrief. In SEC play, Baxter attempted 30 rushing attempts for just 85 yards. But given Notre Dame’s apparent automatic-in if they’re in the top 12 next year, the impetus won’t come from the Irish. There’s only one SEC team the Longhorns would be underdogs against on a neutral field - Georgia. Not Alabama. They can’t run the ball and their QB is seriously overrated. Certainly not Oklahoma, Texas A&M or Vanderbilt. Texas already beat them all convincingly. Not Ole Miss either. They lost their coach. That’s the problem with this “committee”.
