Big Opportunities for 2027 Recruiting with Final Home Games *** It has been a difficult season to host recruits for the Longhorns this season, the schedule just was not very favorable in regards to hosting opportunities. Only six true home games in 2025, included three cupcakes at the beginning of the year where you had to battle the Texas heat. A hosting opportunity against top ten Vanderbilt, and now the two final games at the end of the season where going head to head with state playoffs is key, plus one of the largest holidays in the United States. Day One Impressions: - Michael Taaffe broke the team down to start practice. Last year, it was Quinn Ewers on day one and Barryn Sorrell on day two. - Last year, we would have graded the punting unit a D or so. With the new punter, Texas has a chance to get a A or A+. More distance, significantly more hang time. It is literally like the difference between daylight and dark. The Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker product is coming off a sophomore season where he tallied 26 tackles, including 10 tackles for a loss and four sacks. Boobie Feaster to Take OV to Texas this Summer 2026 DeSoto WR Boobie Feaster tells OnTexasFootball that he will take an official visit to Texas in June. Feaster was on campus Saturday for the Longhorn City Limits event on campus, taking in the third spring practice for the Longhorns. Originally, there had been no plans for an official visit in the summer, though that changed for Feaster following the visit. Right now, the specific weekend is still up in the air. Red Oak (Texas) cornerback Dhillon McGee announced his top three earlier this week of Texas, Penn State and SMU. He ranked his suitors with OnTexasFootball ahead of his June 25th decision date. “So No. 1, I’m going to go Texas, No. 2 is Penn State, and No. 3 is SMU,” McGee told OTF this weekend. Two weeks ago, we mentioned that star wide receiver Ryan Wingo would be out for spring because of a hamstring injury. Last week, we learned that potential starting tight end Jordan Washington would be out for a while, a note which Steve Sarkisian confirmed at his press availability earlier today. Checked in on the status for the Texas quarterback following the Tuesday morning practice session ahead of the ULM game. First and foremost, to reiterate what Steve Sarkisian and several sources have mentioned to me, this is not expected to be a long-term thing for Quinn Ewers. Barring a setback, I would definitely expect Ewers to be healthy for the meeting with Oklahoma in Dallas on October 12. There is some belief that the abdomen strain suffered by Ewers was a lingering issue from the week prior that flared up against UTSA. The initial MRI results of Cedric Baxter's knee injury have been received. It's our understanding that Baxter and Texas are now in the process of getting additional opinions from other experts in the field as I type this. We do not believe it's a straight-forward case of an ACL tear. However, I was also cautioned that that doesn't mean he's out of the woods either. Even something categorized as a "sprain" is actually a slight tear, and there are other parts of the knee that may have been compromised as well. We'll continue to monitor the outcome here. AUSTIN, Texas — Rising redshirt freshman wide receiver Kaliq Lockett will miss the remainder of spring after undergoing surgery for a lower leg injury, according to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian. “Kaliq Lockett had to have surgery last week, so he'll be down the rest of spring as well as Kaden Scherer," Sark said on Tuesday. I spoke with someone who attended Saturday’s practice for a little bit and got to pick their brain on numerous things. Apparently, this practice also served as a viewing window for many donors, and the first half of the practice going against air and/or was mainly 1 on 1 work.
