Four-star safety Semaj Stanford out of Broken Arrow (Okla.) will announce his college commitment on Thursday afternoon, deciding between Texas, Georgia, and Oregon. (there was some confusion on the decision date, but it is indeed April 23rd) Throughout the last few weeks there's been buzz around Texas, but as we've noted on OTF, things have gotten quieter as decision day approaches. Texas tight end Amari Niblack will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, first reported by Matt Zenitz. Niblack saw 90 snaps of game time in 2024 for the Longhorns, about a quarter of what he saw at Alabama in 2023. The Alabama transfer recorded five catches for 33 yards. When the Longhorns moved to playing more 12 personnel, it was mainly Juan Davis who trotted onto the field. For most of the season, the Longhorns kept Niblack at bay. As CJ reported on Tuesday, Michael Taaffe sported a green non-contact jersey in practice. Of note, Taaffe is seeing more and more action at nickel in an effort to get the best five DBs on the field simultaneously. This is at least partially influenced by the fact that Derrick Williams has looked really good in his return from injury. Decision Day: Kaliq Lockett Sachse (Texas) High wide receiver Kaliq Lockett will announce his commitment at noon eastern today. Lockett, 6-2 and 170 pounds, will announce out of a final group of Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU and Florida State. More on AJ Tuitele and new 2026 offers The Texas Longhorns are scheduled to host an official visitor this weekend after Johnny Nansen offered 2025 linebacker A.J. Tuitele (North Las Vegas, NV/Mojave) Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder made an official visit to USC last weekend, and is considered the favorite headed into the weekend visit to Texas. Cole Hutson has reached an agreement with the NCAA that voids his need for an Aug. 10 court date seeking eligibility for the 2026 season. The NCAA agreed that Hutson’s situation applies the same as the Wisne case covering class of 2022 recruits, which granted the class five years to play five seasons. Hutson started at Texas as a true freshman, and eventually played in 48 games in his four-year career. The agreement paves the way for Hutson to return to the Longhorns for this season. Texas has found their transfer quarterback, as first reported by Chris Hummer of 247Sports. MJ Morris has signed with Texas, a transfer from Coastal Carolina. Morris has 2,021 yards and 20 touchdown passes in his career, after seeing in game time across four different seasons. Morris saw three live action across three games in 2025, he threw for 304 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. The rising senior is originally from Carrollton, Georgia. With the addition of defensive lineman Elijah Ali, Texas will likely finish the 2026 recruiting class with 23 signees. Add in 19 portal transfers, and the Longhorns will have 42 new faces in the 2026 season. That’s roughly half of the entire roster. ** Four of the high school recruits are defensive linemen: Ali along with James Johnson, Jamarrion Carlton and Richard Wesley, although Carlton and Wesley will start at defensive end. Which Texas team are we going to get tomorrow? While the offense has not exactly bathed itself in glory this season, it at least seems to be moving in the right direction of late. The defense, however, is a different story. In the first five games of the year, Texas was giving up 260 yards a game. Smithson Valley quarterback Ty Knutson has announced his commitment to The University of Texas. The No. 1 defensive tackle in the country, Justus Terry, will be visiting Texas for the Georgia game on October 19 he tells OTF. The Manchester, Georgia star had committed to USC in March, though decommitted towards the end of June. Derrek Cooper Update OnTexasFootball spoke to a source close to the recruitment of 5-star running back Derrek Cooper (Hollywood, fla./Chaminade-Madonna) within the last hour. The word from the locked in source is that the Texas visit was an absolute home run for Steve Sarkisian and Chad Scott. Word is Cooper was very impressed with the Texas program in every way. One of Cooper's parents was extremely impressed with the entire campus and what the city of Austin could provide for Cooper. Texas is set to host another massive five-star prospect this weekend for the final weekend of the June official visits. Grayson (Ga.) linebacker Tyler Atkinson will visit the Longhorns, first reported by Hayes Fawcett. The Longhorns and Atkinson had been flirting with a visit for basically the entire 2025 year, with plans yet to follow through. However, now, the Longhorns get the No. 1 linebacker in the country, per the composite rankings, on campus for a visit. *** Georgia is considered the leader coming into the visit. Bang!! The Longhorns are back on the board in the 2026 class with the commitment of Willis CB Jermaine Bishop! A huge win for the Longhorns with one of the freakiest athletes in the state of Texas opting to join the 2026 class. This is the second commitment for the Longhorns in a week span, both of which coming in the defense backfield as Bishop joins Edna Karr CB Hayward Howard jr. Texas hosted Bishop multiple times this semester, including his most recent trip to Austin for the Texas fan fest day on April 26.
