Texas gets to kick its feet up and relax this weekend, a welcomed few days of rest and recovery following five consecutive weeks of football. As a result, the Longhorns and Texas fans everywhere will get to sit back and watch the carnage of college football take place for at least one more weekend. The Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes will play one another for the first time since meeting in the desert in January of 2009. While the two programs typically are not familiar with one another, the Longhorns are certainly familiar with the QB Will Howard. The two have faced off four times prior to the meeting on Friday, all of which occurring while Howard was at Kansas State. Howard lost all four of those games, by the way. The Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech has crashed into the Texas coaches office and taken off with associate head coach and safeties coach Blake Gideon. As first reported by Matt Zenitz, Georgia Tech will name Gideon their new defensive coordinator. Gideon was hired by Steve Sarkisian in 2021 from Ole Miss where he was the special teams coordinator. In the four years at Texas, he helped turn around a safeties room from a unit that allowed one of the highest bust percentage in the country to a back-to-back College Football Playoff Semifinal unit. OTF has confirmed Gilmer OT Ismael Camara will be in Austin for an unofficial visit next weekend. The 6-foot-6, 340 pounder will drive down to Austin on Saturday the 20th after finishing up Saturday/summer school. The bulk of the visit will take place on Sunday. This will be Camara's last visit before the summer dead period sets in which will prevent prospects from visiting college campuses until September. Some positives and negatives out of the 55–0 victory over Sam Houston State. *** Good Horn Swagger The game could have ended in the first quarter after Arch Manning ran into the end zone and mean-mugged a Bearkat defender and I would have been more than okay. Ryan Niblett gave three punts a chance on Saturday, totaling 72 yards with a long of 49. At this point, Texas needs just about every yard they can muster in every facet of the game.
