It's been a few hours since we gave you all an update... Here's where things stand as of roughly 30 minutes ago. Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU and Texas all remain in contact with Williams' representatives today. A Williams rep met with OU earlier today. We are told nothing was finalized at that meeting. Likewise, a Texas coach met with Williams himself last night and Williams finished his official visit to LSU yesterday. We still believe Oklahoma and Texas are the two leading contenders for Williams. We also believe it is possible that this decision goes into tomorrow. I want to add this: things can change on a dime. A historical trend in the Red River Shootout has been points, points and more points. Over the last ten years, the average total points scored in this matchup is 71.3, which when you consider the total for this game set by Vegas is only at 49.5 you may be leaving the fair having expected more. However, the lone constant in this series up until two years ago is gone – Lincoln Riley. The remnants of the offense that once produced Heisman after Heisman is completely gone. The No. 1 defensive tackle in the country, Justus Terry, will be visiting Texas for the Georgia game on October 19 he tells OTF. The Manchester, Georgia star had committed to USC in March, though decommitted towards the end of June. Terry is a five-star out of Manchester, Georgia which means another UGA-Texas battle could be on hand over the next few weeks. View full news story

I figured I won't be going to bed any time soon following what we just saw in Jerry World between Texas and Ohio State, so let's get some thoughts off the chest before I shut my eyes for rest. *** Sustainability The program is in a good place. The culture is where it needs to be and the buy-in isn't going to disappear anytime soon. But I need to be completely honest – Texas is losing a lot of leadership. Jahdae Barron, Michael Taaffe, Barryn Sorrell just to name a few. It will be interesting to see who takes that next step in 2025, but Anthony Hill Jr. is name No. 1 on the list for me. 2026 Aledo RB Raycine Guillory Jr. has re-opened his recruitment and decommitted from the Texas 2026 class. Guillory previously had committed to Texas following his first trip to campus on January 20. The Aledo RB had been rehabbing a knee injury and was unable to participate in track this spring as well. Texas just added its 2026 QB in Dia Bell and have continued to recruit the RB position in the state of Texas heavily with Tradarian Ball, Javian Osborne, KJ Edwards and several others headlining the position. OnTexasFootball can confirm RB CJ Baxter is expected to miss the majority of the 2024 season due to torn ligaments in his knee suffered during the first padded practice of fall camp, Anwar Richardson was the first to report. The injury suffered at practice "did not look good" sources told OTF and he was quickly carted off the practice field. Baxter is expected to miss the majority of the season, though we are not entirely ruling out a late season return should things go very well in the rehabilitation phase. View full news story

What could the Texas 2025 class look like December 4? Well, well, well ... the Texas Longhorns have a top 5 level class following the flip of OnTexasFootball 4-star+ defensive lineman Myron Charles (Port Charlotte, Fla./High). And the Longhorns aren't close to finished. With needs still remaining at defensive line, defensive back, one wide receiver and one linebacker plus a possible athlete, this Texas class will likely hit 26 or 27 signees. It is a huge week for Texas and more importantly Steve Sarkisian. Coming into the Red River Shootout as the No. 1 team in the land has been a rarity for the Texas Longhorns in the series history — though they will be adding a tally to that count on Saturday. Echoing what Bobby Burton said earlier today, Quinn Ewers has been healthy and practicing well for the last week and a half. The Longhorns held Pro Day in front of 35 NBA personnel members October 8, and as expected Tre Johnson is very high on draft boards headed into his freshman season. That's a big human added to the portal class! Texas lands former North Carolina DL Travis Shaw out of the transfer portal, first reported by Matt Zenitz. Shaw, who is 6-5, 335 pounds, played all 13 games for North Carolina this season and has seen over 600 snaps in the three years at Chapel Hill. Shaw saw 337 snaps this season and recorded 20 tackles and 15 run stops per PFF. View full news story

As we await a number of NFL and transfer decisions, one Longhorn is closing in on making that decision. I am told that defensive end Trey Moore is leaning to return to the Horns. Moore has been consulting with his family and others on the decision. He has gone so far as to figure out his pre-draft plans of working out in Dallas if it comes to the other side of the equation. Moore finished the year with 5.5 sacks, all of which came in the season’s final seven contests as he became more familiar with the defense and his role within it. We’ve mentioned multiple times over the last couple of weeks how Texas, its coaches and personnel staff, are meeting with players (and sometimes their agents as well) prior to next semester. The topics of discussion hinge around plans for next year for the player and then can proceed to NIL. Five-star defensive lineman and Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster will officially visit Texas this weekend, a source confirms to OnTexasFootball. 247Sports' Mike Roach first reported the development. Brewster, who ranks as one of the top defensive linemen in the country out of Cedar Hill (Texas), has kept the door open on his recruitment despite his pledge to the Red Raiders. He officially visited LSU last weekend. The Longhorns don't have any interior defensive linemen committed to date. A unanimous vote has passed the long-awaited age based eligiblity model for the future of collegiate athletics. Student athletes will now have five years of eligibility, with redshirts and extensions now obsolete. - Five years of eligibility, no redshirts or extensions The clock for eligibility begins at 19 years old or college enrollment, whichever comes earlier. Jalen Lott: The latest Oregon verbal and 4-star++ wide receiver Jalen Lott (Frisco, Texas/Panther Creek) was back on campus at Texas over the weekend with his mom and dad. The visit wasn't about being at Texas for a game day, or game atmosphere or anything that is key in many recruiting visits. Of all the players Texas is recruiting in the 2026 cycle, Jalen Lott has been on campus and attended games in DKR more than any - and by a good margin.
