Brooks, 6-7 and 365, will announce out of Texas, Georgia and USC. Brooks made official visits to all three finalists in June. Since that time, there has been consistent confidence out of Austin. As expected, Texas is building some recruiting momentum coming off of last week’s official visit weekend and heading into this one. The pledge yesterday of Kasi Currie, a defensive tackle from California, was a huge pickup for Texas, literally. Currie is 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and looks like he’s cut from a block of granite. He brings the commitment total for the class of 2027 to 13. Mobile, Ala., product Jabarrius “Chicken” Garror could be next up for the Horns. A massive win for the Texas Longhorns! 2027 Brother Martin (La.) WR Easton Royal has committed to Texas following the win over Texas A&M. Royal was on campus for the second time in four weeks last night and was able to take in the environment as a result. A decision to commit to Texas comes one day after. Five-star defensive lineman and Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster will officially visit Texas this weekend, a source confirms to OnTexasFootball. 247Sports' Mike Roach first reported the development. Brewster, who ranks as one of the top defensive linemen in the country out of Cedar Hill (Texas), has kept the door open on his recruitment despite his pledge to the Red Raiders. A big one! Texas earns a commitment from 2026 Birmingham Parker (Ala.) DL Vodney Cleveland! Cleveland becomes the third defensive lineman to commit to the Longhorns in the 2026 cycle, joining Corey Wells and Dylan Berymon – all three of which are out of state and from SEC territory. The Longhorns hosted Cleveland for an official visit last weekend with KJ Lacey being a part of the Alabama to Texas pitch. North Carolina portal defensive lineman Travis Shaw is in Austin, Texas for a visit he put on his Instagram story Saturday morning. Shaw entered the portal on December 10 after a season where he appeared in 13 games for the Tar Heels and racked up 337 snaps on the defensive side of the ball. Shaw has seen time as mostly a reserve for the last three years in Chapel Hill. In 2024, he racked up 20 tackles and 15 run stops per PFF. Texas of course is looking for four defensive linemen in the portal ahead of 2025. Shaw is listed at 6-foot-5-inches and 330 pounds. View full news story
