Before we get to football and the first day of fall camp, I want to mention the men’s basketball team. Yesterday, Sean Miller hosted members of the media for a basketball practice. The practice and the notes coming from it were on “background” only, so you won’t see or hear specific notes from it on here or elsewhere. But I want to say one thing: it felt very much like something a big-time basketball program, like Arizona, Kansas or Kentucky, would do. The text of the proposed Protect College Sports Act was finally shared in full with reporters. Among the rules, the “Lane Kiffin rule”was perhaps the most eye-popping. A college head coach can not take another job during his own season UNLESS he sits out an entire year of active duty. While we could discuss the merits of the rule, I’m more focused on how that might play out in real fashion. Largely based on which team has a power four prospect or several for the future Longhorn to matchup with, OTF provides the best TXHSFB game to attend for each in-state commit. According to a "clarification" penned by the Judge Charlotte Sweeney, who granted the class of 2022 a five-for-five years opportunity, the injunction she wrote on Friday does not alter "the House Settlement, roster caps, and transfer rules". So what does that mean? Yes, class of 2022 players will be granted an additional year of eligibility if they seek one. However, they will not be able to transfer to another school to play this season unless they had already entered their name in the NCAA transfer portal in January. At 5-foot-7.5, 190 pounds, Williams-Callis chose the Longhorns over Texas A&M, SMU, Houston, and Missouri. Landen Williams-Callis Announcement Live Thread The record-setting running back out of Richmond Randle High is set to announce his commitment at around 6:45pm CT tonight. Texas, Missouri, SMU, Texas A&M and Houston are the finalists. Texas has been considered the favorite for the last few weeks. Confidence remains in Austin headed into the weekend, but as always we must await the announcement from Williams-Callis.
