Four-star TE from California locks in official visit Four-star tight end Kaleb Edwards (El Dorado Hills, Cali./Oak Ridge) picked up an offer from Texas January 16, 2024. There were not many 2025 prospects on campus over the weekend, though one that warranted a lot of attention was Jasper's Kiotti Armstrong. Armstrong was last on campus January 20 for the Texas Junior Day and made the return trip to see Texas in-person for its second scrimmage of the day. Of course, it certainly helps having former Jasper teammate, TyAnthony Smith, on campus as well. The big thing for Armstrong on this trip, however, was getting to see the Longhorns in action on the field. We live in a world gone mad. I can’t keep up with all the shenanigans going on in college sports. - There’s a rule proposal on the table that a college head coach would essentially be suspended for six games in a season if he takes a transfer player outside of the official transfer portal. The refs didn’t call Purdue for pushing off for offensive rebounds all night. So they weren’t going to start with the game on the line. And that’s what ultimately did Texas in. The Boilermakers, after shoving Daylan Swain under the basket, tipped back in a missed shot with less than a second remaining to end the Horns’ cinderalla NCAA tourney run. It was a near-heroic effort from Tramon Mark, who scored 29 points on 11-15 shooting, that kept the Horns in much of the game before Swain tried to bring the Horns home. Hopefully some of you got a chance to read some of my notes from yesterday’s practice. I have a few more to add below. - I mentioned a likely starter was sidelined on Thursday. I didn’t mention his name because I was awaiting word on exactly what the issue is/was. Since another site went ahead and ran with the name, I can confirm that that player is tight end Michael Masunas. However, I do not know exactly what the injury is.
