Another one! Texas adds to its 2026 portal class with veteran linebacker Justin Cryer from Florida State! Cryer was a three year contributor in Tallahassee, totaling 86 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception over those seasons. In 2025, Cryer racked up 43 tackles as well and was an eight game starter. With the linebacking room at Texas seeing departure after departure, Cryer acts as an able body to stabilize the room and provide snaps when necessary. View full news story

Latest Update on Arch Manning *** Pete Nakos of On3 has reported that QB Arch Manning is a game-time decision for Saturday's contest vs. Vanderbilt. I can confirm that report. In a thread on Thursday, an OTF OG lofted out an estimation of 70% likeliness that Arch Manning plays. I think that number is in the ballpark, and perhaps even a couple of percentage points low based off of intel provided throughout the week. Whew. In a win-or-go-home game, the Longhorns ran off to a big lead early then held on late. No heroics from Cade Klubnik could save the Tigers. And no amount of injuries were enough to derail the Texas offense. Texas was simply too good for Clemson. The Horns flexed their depth to prove just that. Texas AD Chris Del Conte will host his annual town hall next Wednesday, Feb. 4. Del Conte will answer an array of questions on just about every sport and any topic. What a win for the Longhorns in the portal. Texas has flipped former Louisville DL Jermayne Lole from his commitment from Oklahoma. Lole has instead committed to the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns continue to add to their defensive line room as Lole becomes the third addition to this room, joining Bill Norton and Tia Savea. Lole is sixth year senior who spent three years at Arizona State before spending 2023 at Louisville. Two seasons were lost to injury. As I alluded to this morning, Texas was closing in on wrapping up their coaching search to replace Nolan Cain. On Texas Football has confirmed that Texas is set to hire Oregon assistant coach Jack Marder and former Texas/Texas A&M assistant Caleb Longley. Marder is a former Oregon player and was the Ducks assistant coach, serving as hitting coach, catchers coach and recruiting coordinator under Mark Wasikowski. He helped land Baseball America’s No. 5 recruiting class in 2022, while also earning national recognition as one of college baseball’s rising assistant coaches. Just a quick note on portal DL: 1. Peter Woods announced yesterday that he is returning to Clemson next season. Woods is someone Texas and everyone else in college football would have had interest in had he opted to enter the portal. 2. Nua Tanavasu of Utah and Toby Onyedim of Iowa State are two DLs of note to watch. 3. Portal prospects can not begin taking official visits again until Jan. 1. 4. There are discussions being had behind the scenes at this point. We’ll see where any of them go from here. But right now, there is nothing definitive that I have been made aware of.

As we await a number of NFL and transfer decisions, one Longhorn is closing in on making that decision. I am told that defensive end Trey Moore is leaning to return to the Horns. Moore has been consulting with his family and others on the decision. He has gone so far as to figure out his pre-draft plans of working out in Dallas if it comes to the other side of the equation. Moore finished the year with 5.5 sacks, all of which came in the season’s final seven contests as he became more familiar with the defense and his role within it. While I am not saying the decision is final, “staying” at Texas appears to be the more likely option. Moore is not …

OnTexasFootball can confirm the move made by Steve Sarkisian to hire Rutgers CB Coach Mark Orphey to the Texas staff, first reported by OrangeBloods. Orphey has been the corners coach at Rutgers for the last three seasons, earning a raise in 2023. Previously at Montana State, Orphey coached four players to all-conference honors in the Big Sky Conference. And while at South Carolina, he coached four players to all-conference honors, including Chris Lammons and Al Harris Jr. The 36-year old corners coach hails from North Shore High School in Houston, a place familiar with producing top notch DBs. Texas RT Andre Cojoe to Miss 2025 Season A significant blow to the depth of the offensive line has hit the Texas Longhorns. Texas right tackle Andre Cojoe will miss the entirety of the 2025 season with a knee injury according to sources. Texas offensive coordinator and OL coach Kyle Flood stated Cojoe and Brandon Baker would be in competition this fall for the starting right tackle position. This is especially unfortunate considering Cojoe entered fall camp in the best shape of his Texas career. A very unfortunate situation for Cojoe and we wish him a speedy recovery. The Texas Longhorns have landed a commitment from Kansas State transfer power forward Arthur Kaluma. Kaluma, 6-7 and 225 pounds, has played three season of high-major basketball. He played at Creighton for two seasons before transferring to Kansas State for the 2023-24 season. He's also tested the NBA Draft waters, before returning to college.
