Black, who was a starting cornerback in the spring showcase, also repped a little at safety in the spring. OTF was informed earlier this week that Black is going to work more at safety this summer and leading into August practices. The defensive staff continues to look forward to seeing Jonah Williams on the field in August. Nothing has changed in terms of the sophomore safety being one of the best pure athletes in the program. The Longhorns are gearing up to host Oregon in the Austin Super Regional, with the first game starting tomorrow night at 7:00 PM (televised on ESPN). I checked in with numerous sources to get the latest on where things stand with Jim Schlossnagle’s club, along with the transfer portal, the Ducks and much more. While official pitching lineups have yet to be formalized (at time of writing), you can expect Texas ace Dylan Volantis to get the start on Saturday. Rumors are flying that Texas outfielder Max Belyeu could possibly be transferring to Texas A&M. After speaking with a couple of sources on Sunday afternoon, I can say that I do not believe that to be the case at this time. Obviously things can change at the drop of a hat, but that’s where things stand as of now. Belyeu was a crucial piece of the Horns offense this season, batting .329 at the plate, while hitting 18 home runs and 53 RBIs.

Jalen Lott: The latest Oregon verbal and 4-star++ wide receiver Jalen Lott (Frisco, Texas/Panther Creek) was back on campus at Texas over the weekend with his mom and dad. The visit wasn't about being at Texas for a game day, or game atmosphere or anything that is key in many recruiting visits. Of all the players Texas is recruiting in the 2026 cycle, Jalen Lott has been on campus and attended games in DKR more than any - and by a good margin. Terrance Brooks’ entrance to the portal caught many by surprise. But not the Longhorns. What happened? Well, based on what I’ve been told and for whatever reasons, Texas decided to move on from Brooks as a definitive starter. It could be that he gained 12 pounds from the end of the regular season to the beginning of spring ball. For a corner already needing more top-end speed, Brooks didn’t do himself any favors. I’ve watched the game twice now. Texas got beat up front. Brutally bad. The offensive line The interior DL of Georgia routinely defeated the Texas offensive guards. That’s just a hard fact. The Texas guards could not move any of them, not even on combo blocks with Jake Majors. Kyle Flood even inserted Cole Hutson into the game to try to shake things up. Hutson played well. But the Georgia interior was just having none of it. And the Georgia defensive ends were at best stalemated. I could only find two instances where the Texas tackles caved in the Georgia DEs.
