  1. Team note and recruiting percentages A team note and more on recruiting to begin your Wednesday. Team note... OTF believes the odds of junior Kobe Black moving to safety continue to rise. Black, who was a starting cornerback in the spring showcase, also repped a little at safety in the spring. OTF was informed earlier this week that Black is going to work more at safety this summer and leading into August practices. The defensive staff continues to look forward to seeing Jonah Williams on the field in August. Nothing has changed in terms of the sophomore safety being one of the best pure athletes in the program. Texas badly wants Williams to be a major…

  2. The Longhorns are gearing up to host Oregon in the Austin Super Regional, with the first game starting tomorrow night at 7:00 PM (televised on ESPN). I checked in with numerous sources to get the latest on where things stand with Jim Schlossnagle’s club, along with the transfer portal, the Ducks and much more. While official pitching lineups have yet to be formalized (at time of writing), you can expect Texas ace Dylan Volantis to get the start on Saturday. As far as Sunday (and Monday if needed) goes, that all depends on what happens during game one. Nothing is set in stone at this time, although Texas has various scenarios they can go to. — …

  3. Rumors are flying that Texas outfielder Max Belyeu could possibly be transferring to Texas A&M. After speaking with a couple of sources on Sunday afternoon, I can say that I do not believe that to be the case at this time. Obviously things can change at the drop of a hat, but that’s where things stand as of now. Belyeu was a crucial piece of the Horns offense this season, batting .329 at the plate, while hitting 18 home runs and 53 RBIs.

  4. Another big time visitor for Mississippi State game The visitor list for Texas Longhorns first ever SEC game September 29 continues to grow. This afternoon, there was yet another 4-star prospect added to the early visitor list for the game next Saturday. This time its a 2026 prospect with a committable offer by the Longhorns. Texas vs. Mississippi State Walter Mathis Jr., DL, Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day - LSU commit Note: This will be an unofficial visit for Mathis and familly. Chace Sims, DL, Richmond (Texas) Randle - Texas A&M commit Note: This will be an official visit for Sims. OTF continues to put the percentage at 75% for a flip assuming the…

  5. AUSTIN, Texas — The OTF Staff is fresh off the field from Day 1 of Texas fall camp. We'll have much more coming as we digest what we saw in the roughly 30-minute viewing window, but here's CJ, Hank, and Jeff's initial notes: CJ’s notes Offense: I focused specifically on the running backs and tight ends today, with a glimpse of the offensive line in between. – Hollywood Smothers was the first running back in drills, immediately followed by Raleek Brown. When working with the quarterbacks, Arch Manning was the quarterback handing the ball off and throwing the ball to either back. Ryan Niblett was RB3, and it is worth noting the next back up was fr…

  6. Jalen Lott: The latest Oregon verbal and 4-star++ wide receiver Jalen Lott (Frisco, Texas/Panther Creek) was back on campus at Texas over the weekend with his mom and dad. The visit wasn't about being at Texas for a game day, or game atmosphere or anything that is key in many recruiting visits. Of all the players Texas is recruiting in the 2026 cycle, Jalen Lott has been on campus and attended games in DKR more than any - and by a good margin. This was all about talking to Steve Sarkisian and staff. The communication never stopped since Lott picked Oregon over Texas. It's been consistent since about a week after the July 8 commitment. This rec…

Injury news incoming. More later. Per CJ Vogel (Tuesday 5:15 PM) Hearing Georgia is the targeted return date for Taaffe from his thumb surgery. That would mean he would be sidelined for Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, then have the bye week to get back to speed for UGA in Athens on November 15. View full news story

  11. Hoops: Texas at Vanderbilt Game Thread The Texas Longhorns are back in must win mode, and they face the task of winning on the road at Vanderbilt today at noon central. Texas (15-8, 4-6) will take on an ascending Vanderbilt (16-6, 4-5) program without Tramon Mark, who is out of action Saturday. That leaves the Horns without two guard with Chendall Weaver still expected to be out one more week. The Commodores have already won seven more games this season than 2023-24, when they posted a 9-23 record and made a coaching change. First year coach Mark Byington is one of the rising coaches in the college ranks. Texas' NCAA NET ranking fell from No. 25 to …

Just left the practice field at Celebration High. It’s a beautiful day in Orlando with lots of sun and a steady breeze. - Colin Simmons worked some with linebackers in a punch-out drill. - Michael Taaffe is the only opt-out who is here with the team in Orlando. - While Ryan Niblett worked with the first team punt coverage unit, Daylon McCutcheon was returning punts. With the loss of DeAndre Moore, McCutcheon appears to be second team return man. - Multiple young players have continued to fill out their frames, including the Coleman brothers, Jackson Christian, Smith Orogbo, Zina Umeozulu, Lance Jackson, Myron Charles, Josiah Sharma and Nick Brooks…

  16. Afternoon recruiting nuggets OnTexasFootball brings some afternoon recruiting nuggets, to go with your Chick-Fil-A nuggets! John Meredith III Texas A&M knows Texas is trending for the 5-star cornerback out of North Crowley High (Fort Worth). The Aggies are attempting to do everything they can to slow the Longhorns momentum. OTF continues to believe Texas is ascending here, but the Longhorns still have to close this one out in a wild wild west NIL world. OTF also wouldn't be surprised if Alabama fell off, and didn't end up getting an OV. That would mean a Texas vs. Texas A&M decision at the end of the day. Noah Roberts The 4-star+ RB out o…

  17. Terrance Brooks’ entrance to the portal caught many by surprise. But not the Longhorns. What happened? Well, based on what I’ve been told and for whatever reasons, Texas decided to move on from Brooks as a definitive starter. It could be that he gained 12 pounds from the end of the regular season to the beginning of spring ball. For a corner already needing more top-end speed, Brooks didn’t do himself any favors. It could be that he didn’t exactly have his best spring practice either, punctuated by a coverage bust in the spring game that should be rare for a third-year player. Or it could just be the simple fact that Texas is continuously looking…

  18. As of Friday afternoon, the Longhorns have gained commitments from two players in the portal. Jack Moroknek - Outfielder - Butler Moroknek can play both left and right field, but more importantly can make an impact in the batter’s box. This past season he garnered All Big-East second team awards, after hitting .372 at the plate with a 1.145 OPS, 16 doubles and 18 home runs (led the team). Josh Livingston - INF - Wichita State Another left handed hitter, Livingston could play either corner spot or could simply be designated to DH. Last season he hit .284 for 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. Defensively, Livingston had a .990 fielding %, while only committing …

  20. NCAA Selection Sunday thread This is the thread for all things NCAA Selection Sunday. We begin the day with two scenarios for the Texas Longhorns. Scenario one ... Texas is higher for the committee than the bracketology's that have the Longhorns as the last team in the tournament. That would mean the last two days of conference tournaments didn't matter. CBS Bracketology had Texas as a 10 seed yesterday. Scenario two ... The A-10 Tournament is very big today if the Joe Lunardi and others bracketology's are correct with Texas the last team in the tournament. Texas and any other possible "last team in" needs VCU to beat Dayton. No question ab…

  25. Started by Bobby Burton,

I’ve watched the game twice now. Texas got beat up front. Brutally bad. The offensive line The interior DL of Georgia routinely defeated the Texas offensive guards. That’s just a hard fact. The Texas guards could not move any of them, not even on combo blocks with Jake Majors. Kyle Flood even inserted Cole Hutson into the game to try to shake things up. Hutson played well. But the Georgia interior was just having none of it. And the Georgia defensive ends were at best stalemated. I could only find two instances where the Texas tackles caved in the Georgia DEs. By comparison, Texas did that to A&M 15 times or more a week ago. This game wa…
