Texas has done a number of things to make donors feel involved with the program over the decades. The last couple of years, the Horns held a live auction where trips with the team to Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, etc., were up for grabs. There was even live music on the floor of DKR for the event. This year, based on feedback and a little ingenuity, Texas is doing something a little different. With the news today that the NCAA is pushing forward a vote for the 5-seasons-to-play-5-years rule, I wanted to check in with a source at Texas about what that means for the two players it could effect for the Horns, transfer OL Laurence Seymore and LB Darius Snow. It is the current belief that neither Seymore nor Snow would be effected by the ruling because they have already been approved by the NCAA for the additional year. It is the belief, however, that players who have not been approved yet by the NCAA, or those who are only eligible because of legal injunctions, could be effected by the ruling. After an impressive start to his career at Cal catching passes from Fernando Mendoza, Endries spent one season with the Longhorns in 2025, catching 33 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. is the first Longhorn off the board in the 2027 NFL Draft, headed to the Tennessee Titans with the 60th overall pick in the second round. Hill, a former five-star recruit from Denton (Texas) Ryan, has been projected in the second round for much of the draft process after a stellar career in Burnt Orange. The 2026 NFL Draft won’t break records for Texas, but a handful of Longhorns are expected to be selected in the coming days — a feat that shouldn’t be taken for granted considering that after this year’s draft the Longhorns will have had more players taken in the last four years than Texas had from 2011-2021 combined (31 if you were wondering).
