Best Class Scenario: June 28 It's time for the latest Best Class Scenario for the 2027 class as the calendar is close to turning to July. Following three weekends of official visits, the scenarios for the class headed into the season are pretty clear. The Longhorns are currently comfortably inside the top 10 class rankings, with the ability to ascend as high as No. 2. The latest Best Class Scenario includes 25 prospects with Texas likely to end up with 22-23 in the class by August. A pair of big boy recruitments are set to finalize soon. Indianapolis WR Monshun Sales, a top 10 player in the country, is slated to choose between Texas and Indiana on Friday afternoon. The Longhorns remain in the mix. Neither team has been told yes or no as of yesterday and communication lines remain open. The Longhorns are hopeful but I think it's important to stop short of saying optimistic. The Horns are well aware of the high stakes here and how recruitments like these can come down to the wire. A massive win for the Texas Longhorns! 2027 Brother Martin (La.) WR Easton Royal has committed to Texas following the win over Texas A&M. Royal was on campus for the second time in four weeks last night and was able to take in the environment as a result. A decision to commit to Texas comes one day after. It wasn't pretty, and it was the first game in a while Texas struggled down the stretch making key free throws (Texas had shot 82.5% from the foul line the last nine games). The Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech has crashed into the Texas coaches office and taken off with associate head coach and safeties coach Blake Gideon. As first reported by Matt Zenitz, Georgia Tech will name Gideon their new defensive coordinator. Gideon was hired by Steve Sarkisian in 2021 from Ole Miss where he was the special teams coordinator. In the four years at Texas, he helped turn around a safeties room from a unit that allowed one of the highest bust percentage in the country to a back-to-back College Football Playoff Semifinal unit. The offense is a clear work in progress that seems to have regressed more recently. Whether that’s on the O-line, the QB, or the play-caller, it’s irrelevant. Texas is currently on a four-game win streak. That's tied with Georgia for the third longest current win-streak in the league behind only A&M and Alabama.
