A couple of players who have announced for the portal to know: CB Bo Mascoe - Rutgers DL Ian Geffrard - Arkansas Before becoming an Honorable Mention All-Big 10 selection in 2025, Mascoe played for and was recruited to Rutgers by current Texas cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey. He totaled more than 50 tackles and made one interception this season. He’s originally from Kissimmee, Fla. Geffrard, who is originally from Georgia, is a 6-foot-5, 360-pound interior run-stopper and lane plugger. He started all 12 games for the Razorbacks this season. Trevor Goosby: The latest OnTexasFootball can report that Texas junior left tackle Trevor Goosby has signed an agreement to return to Texas for the 2026 season. That does not mean he can't also decide to enter the NFL draft. OTF has believed, and continues to believe, that there is plenty of positivity around the 6-foot-7, 315-pound All-SEC First-Team selection that he will ultimately return to Texas for a final season. There were a couple of extra curricular activities during the live action between the offense and defense. Upon the second one occurring, Sark wasn’t playing around anymore. I’m not sure if folks read the article in The Athletic yesterday. But for those who didn’t, an opposing coach basically went all-in on the Texas portal transfer class. And not in a good way. The coach questioned the running back additions, the addition of Rasheem Biles, the price paid for Cam Coleman and more. Every comment was ripe with skepticism. Some notes from behind the scenes… While most of Longhorn Nation is concerned with quarterback play and the offense, the mood inside DKR is decidedly different. The Longhorn staff remains upbeat about the season ahead. Not only do they feel the issues at QB are temporary, but they are extremely encouraged with other aspects of the team, particularly the defense and kicking game. With multiple outlets now reporting it, we can confirm that Syracuse defensive tackle Maraad Watson, who lists at 6-3, 313 pounds, is expected to visit Texas. The visit is slated to begin later this evening. Watson earned freshman All-American honors for the Orangemen in 2024, totaling 30 tackles and 1 sack while being a key piece of a much improved Syracuse defense. There's been a lot of speculation regarding Texas Women's Basketball guard Aaliyah Crump as of late. The freshman was injured in mid-November and has yet to return to the floor for Vic Schaefer. Apparently there was a recent report that Crump is now going to redshirt, so I reached out to a team source this morning to get the latest. Crump continues to progress from her foot injury and is doing much better. However, no decision has been made on the former five-star at this time. The possibility to return is still there.

We had some major questions going into the scrimmage yesterday. Some of them were answered: Back-up QB The role feels more and more like transfer Matthew Caldwell’s to lose. We’re told Caldwell looked more than serviceable again yesterday and even started with the second unit. Granted, Steve Sarkisian singled out KJ Lacey, too. It’s weeks like this that tell a team what they’re really made of. Texas, with its season goals all but evaporated, plays host to an Arkansas team that is winless in conference play. Arkansas interim coach Bobby Petrino, a talented offensive mind, is making one final run at removing the interim tag from his title. Nothing would help more than a victory over Texas. Kelshaun Johnson post visit update OnTexasFootball spoke just now with Kelshaun Johnson. The 4-star WR from Hitchcock (Texas) High told OTF that Texas and Texas A&M are 50-50 after the weekend. Johnson also said he’s unsure if he will make the June 21-23 OV to USC this weekend. This will be a Texas vs Texas A&M decision, and could be sooner rather than later.

The morning after: Culture test coming in Dallas What Texas fans witnessed Saturday in The Swamp was the worst Texas Longhorns performance in a while, quite possibly since at Arkansas in 2021. All week we gave the Florida defense credit for being really good, physical and playing very well in losses at LSU and Miami. But what I saw in Gainesville was deeply concerning. Ranking the portal transfers When ranking the portal transfers into the Texas program in the 2026 cycle, there are a number of ways to look at them. It can be pure talent that will likely show in future NFL Draft's. There is scheme fit. And there is need. Texas commit Brandon Brown (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) is scheduled to announce July 5th per a family member. That is change from July 4 yesterday. Texas is not giving up on the 6-1.5, 285 pound explosive defensive tackle. Brown and Kenny Baker had a lengthy discussion Tuesday night.
