OTF can confirm the initial report by 247Sports National that Toledo linebacker Markus Boswell has signed with Texas. Boswell was a true freshman for Toledo last season. He registered 19 tackles. He played his high school ball at Lake Travis. Boswell’s father is a former UT and Olympic High Jumper. That makes 16 commitments for the Horns in this portal cycle and the third linebacker, joining Rasheem Biles and Justin Cryer. View full news story

We’ve talked about the relative lack of size at linebacker given Rasheem Biles and Ty’Anthony Smith are both expected starters. However, according to our CJ Vogel, Juice Cryer, a much bigger, more natural inside linebacker, has not been so easy for Smith to unseat in week one. If you recall, Smith was on the mend during spring training while Cryer, a Florida State transfer, participated fully in the install of Will Muschamp’s defense. TCU transfer defensive lineman Damonic Williams has announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Williams had a final four of Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and LSU and visited all four prior to making his decision Thursday evening. Williams’ final visit was wrapped Wednesday afternoon in Baton Rouge, and the Longhorns got one final crack with him late Wednesday evening.
