  1. OTF can confirm the initial report by 247Sports National that Toledo linebacker Markus Boswell has signed with Texas. Boswell was a true freshman for Toledo last season. He registered 19 tackles. He played his high school ball at Lake Travis. Boswell’s father is a former UT and Olympic High Jumper. That makes 16 commitments for the Horns in this portal cycle and the third linebacker, joining Rasheem Biles and Justin Cryer. View full news story

  2. Jalen Brewster, the nation's no. 1 recruit and a commitment to Texas Tech, continues to visit other schools, including LSU and Texas. He visited the Tigers and Longhorns the last two weekends, respectively. Yet "The J Brewster Living Trust" apparently purchased property in Lubbock this past February while Brewster was still a high school junior. Is this property purchase a hurdle the Tigers, Longhorns or any other school can overcome? It's uncertain. But Brewster, according to various reports, enjoyed his time in both Baton Rouge and Austin, and appears poised to look deeper into other schools in the SEC. Brewster, who is listed at 6-foot-3, 302 p…

  4. As of late last night, there still was no word on the decision of Indianapolis WR Monshun Sales, one of the nation’s top 10 players. I am told that Texas remains in contention. Sales is set to announce his decision later today on the Pat McAfee show and is expected to choose between Texas and Indiana. Communication with other schools, including LSU and Ohio State, has been limited, while talks with the Horns and Hoosiers continue. ** Having covered recruiting for 30+ years, it’s extremely rare that one school or another doesn’t know the true intention of a recruit heading into the announcement. But, if either school knows the decision as of this m…

  5. Would you be happy with this class on defense? I'm asking for the thoughts of the OnTexasFootball community this afternoon. We have spoke on the OTF YouTube in recent days about how impressive the Texas defensive class is, and could be from a SEC size/speed combination. So my question is simple ... would you guys and gals be happy with this class if this is what is looks like December 4? Key Note: This is NOT a class prediction. Defensive line Josiah Sharma, DL, Folsom (Calif.) High #AllGasNoBrakes OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++ 6-4, 320 Myron Charles, DL, Port Charlotte (Fla.) High #AllGasNoBrakes OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-…

Purdue tight end Max Klare, a third-team All Big 10 selection by conference coaches, is expected to visit Texas today, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Klare caught 51 passes for 685 yards and four TDs last season. He’s 6-foot-4, 240 pounds.

  8. Started by Bobby Burton,

We’re now 48 hours removed from the recruiting weekend. That’s typically when the dust settles and we see whether or not the Longhorns actually moved the needle with key recruits. It’s clear Texas accomplished that with multiple players over the weekend. But the one I want to mention this morning is Landen Williams-Callis. This weekend, Texas went from another hat on the table to a serious contender. There are multiple reasons why. This weekend, Texas focused on getting to know Williams-Callis better and vice versa. I think both sides wanted to see if it could truly be a long-term fit. Those boxes, I’m told, were mutually checked. As for the …

  9. Burnt Orange fireworks are lighting up the Fourth of July as five-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara has announced his commitment to Texas. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound Gilmer (Texas) standout picked the Longhorns over SMU, Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama and a host of other suitors. It’s one of the biggest wins on the recruiting front for the Longhorns in 2027, and likely completes a stellar offensive line haul for Texas this cycle. Camara joins Brian Swanson, Lucas Rhoa, Jackson Cook, and Keyon Hemphill-Woods in what’s a dynamic haul of offensive linemen that gives Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood plenty of versatility. “I really loved the pro-style offense th…

  11. Here is what I know about this Texas football team: 1. The defense is as good as I have seen from any Texas football team in my life. 2. Quinn Ewers is a guy you can win with, but not because of. 3. The inconsistencies with the Texas OL/Run game will be the ultimate downfall of this team and its push for a National Championship. Of course, I will explain what I mean with all of these points coming up, but I will say this. That was not a good loss for Steve Sarkisian and Texas. If you want to take the next step and become one of them ones – and I mean the ultimate elite in the game (Smart’s, Saban’s, etc), that was a game you had to win. T…

  12. Texas vs. Arizona State: Why I made the prediction score I'm sitting out on a limb by myself predicting a Texas 52-23 win over Arizona State in Peach Bowl. There is always the chance it could be way off, considering Texas is an offense that has helped the opponent with unforced turnovers this season. But as the game gets closer, I just can't find the avenues for the Sun Devils to keep this game within the number - let alone pull the upset. Here are all my reasons for predicting a lopsided Texas win ... 1. Arizona State is outside the top 100 ranking in rushing the passer. They only have 21 sacks this season. If the Sun Devils can't generate pressure on Quin…

  13. With the season coming to a close, it’s time for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff to move on and look to the future. Now it’s all about building on this past season and improving for the future. The NCAA baseball portal window officially opened on June 1st and it will run through July 2nd. As of Monday afternoon, I am expecting the Horns to lose at least four players to the portal. One of those has already been announced in outfielder Matt Scott. It is worth nothing that Scott was not on the postseason roster. The other three names will be along those lines as well. Not difference makers at this point in time. Now that’s not to say more will not enter, b…

  14. Targets remaining on the board for the Longhorns The Texas Longhorns sit at 17 commitments with the pledge of OnTexasFootball 5-star offensive tackle John Turntine III Friday. With a class that still has up to 10-11 spots remaining, the question from the OnTexasFootball community following the July 4th fireworks was who is remaining on the board for Steve Sarkisian and staff. OTF provides a look at where things stand headed into the next week of announcements. Running back Texas is planning to bring in OTF 5-star Derrek Cooper (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna) for an official visit during the season. Miami, Georgia and Ohio State join Texas as t…

  16. Portal Update: 17.5 hours until dead period ends The dead period ends in 17.5 hours, and that means visits will once again begin on Thursday morning. Texas currently sits at 13 commitments/signings in the portal cycle with needs remaining on the offensive line, EDGE and linebacker for sure. There could also be looks in the secondary and potentially at wide receiver depending on if anyone else hops in the portal that would garner interest. A few updates ... Today is the day that Colorado transfer OT Jordan Seaton should officially go in the portal, barring a change. That means the future first round NFL Draft selection in 2027 would be on a campus Thurs…

  17. Offensive Line Talk *** Happy Sunday. Hope everyone is staying warm and off the icy roads and sidewalks. The ongoing conversation this offseason will obviously will be about the offensive line. Whether you like it or not, it just will. Did Texas do enough? Are there enough pieces? What's the group end up looking like? A lot of unknowns remain and admittedly, it's not quite known what other options remain in the portal. But alas, we have an idea at least of what this unit could provide next fall. Starting with the good. *** The Good – Pass protection from the tackles. LT Trevor Goosby returns after a 2025 that netted him a…

  18. Texas Hoops Report: Confidence in the facility The Texas Longhorns basketball team is engaged in full summer workout activities with only Arkansas transfer Tramon Mark yet to be on campus officially. 20. A few notes on receivers from today’s practice availability as Chris Jackson’s unit was the position group I focused on. This doesn’t include everyone who catches passes for the Burnt Orange, as it’s impossible to watch every rep from every receiver when you’re watching practice through your camera’s viewfinder. Scroll down for a thread of photos from practice. Ryan Wingo — Was a fluid mover through his routes that tracked the ball well on deep passing drills, and specifically on a play where he ran a corner route into the back left corner of the endzone and hauled it in over his left shoulder before getting a foot down for 6. Also noticed a bit of leadership fr…

  21. Started by Bobby Burton,

We’ve talked about the relative lack of size at linebacker given Rasheem Biles and Ty’Anthony Smith are both expected starters. However, according to our CJ Vogel, Juice Cryer, a much bigger, more natural inside linebacker, has not been so easy for Smith to unseat in week one. If you recall, Smith was on the mend during spring training while Cryer, a Florida State transfer, participated fully in the install of Will Muschamp’s defense. While it’s too early to say one or the other will eventually win the job, we can at least say there’s a battle for it through week one of camp. ** Cole Hutson returned to the team officially yesterday and was back on…

  22. Started by Bobby Burton,

This three-game stretch has always been about improvement for the Horns. Even in the pre-season, it's what we identified and discussed. So as we look toward this week, I ask, what do you want to see from the Texas Longhorns as it relates to improvement? Here's my list: Offense - Continued improvement from Arch Manning. This week, I'd like to see more crossing routes completed and even greater accuracy overall. I really want to see a 22-of-28 type performance, while maintaining his yards-per-completion average. - Better and more cohesive pass protection. - More receivers truly involved. Along with no dropped passes and better perimeter blockin…

  25. TCU transfer defensive lineman Damonic Williams has announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Williams had a final four of Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and LSU and visited all four prior to making his decision Thursday evening. Williams’ final visit was wrapped Wednesday afternoon in Baton Rouge, and the Longhorns got one final crack with him late Wednesday evening. Oklahoma and Todd Bates spent the morning with Williams Thursday to begin the day and ultimately said the right words to win the recruitment. View full news story
