We’ve talked about the relative lack of size at linebacker given Rasheem Biles and Ty’Anthony Smith are both expected starters. However, according to our CJ Vogel, Juice Cryer, a much bigger, more natural inside linebacker, has not been so easy for Smith to unseat in week one. If you recall, Smith was on the mend during spring training while Cryer, a Florida State transfer, participated fully in the install of Will Muschamp’s defense. Five-star Duncanville WR Dakorien Moore will make his college decision tomorrow on the 4th of July. The final four for Moore includes Texas, Oregon, Ohio State and LSU. TCU transfer defensive tackle Damonic Williams wrapped up a visit to LSU last night, and leaves this morning. He arrived Monday evening, had dinner with defensive line coach Bo Davis and two other coaches, and spent the entire day Tuesday on campus - including a meeting with Brian Kelly. Now it's decision time for the 6-1.5, 315 pound difference maker, which is expected Thursday. Prior to that decision, Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker and possibly an Oklahoma coach are expected to meet with Williams in DFW today. Over the Next Month *** The stage is set for the Texas postseason – Michigan awaits in the Citrus Bowl on December 31st. For the next 24 days, there will be plenty to watch and keep track of. Portal decisions will be, NFL opt outs will be announced and coaching turnover are all on the line ahead of the trip to Orlando at the end of the month. Of those NFL decisions that will be made is the future of S Jelani McDonald. Five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales will announce his decision at 11 a.m. CT on Friday, July 17. The decision will be broadcast on the Pat McAfee Show. The first injury availability report has been released. Texas will be without starting center Cole Hutson when on the road this weekend in Lexington. Hutson sustained an injury in practice and very quickly was given the inactive designation. The expectation is Connor Robertson will start at center for the Horns this weekend. What will the week hold for the Longhorns? OnTexasFootball had mentioned since late last week that 4-star+ offensive tackle Felix Ojo (Mansfield, Texas/Lake Ridge) was a strong possibility to announce July 4 due to it being his birth day. Ojo did announce Monday that he intends to announce a decision July 4. That provides another opportunity for the Longhorns to have a positive week on the recruiting trail. Add a tight end to the 2026 portal class! Texas has secured a signature from former Michigan State tight end Michael Masunas following his visit to campus on Monday. Masunas played the last three seasons with the Spartans in East Lansing, tallying over 500 career snaps. In 2025 specifically, Masunas recorded 391 snaps on the season. In the passing game, Masunas hauled in 19 passes for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. At 6-foot-5-inches and 259 pounds, Masunas lined up almost exclusively as an in-line blocker in 2025. I spoke with someone who attended Saturday’s practice for a little bit and got to pick their brain on numerous things. Apparently, this practice also served as a viewing window for many donors, and the first half of the practice going against air and/or was mainly 1 on 1 work. In fact, Tech’s NIL offer to Ojo is said to be larger than that of both Texas and Ohio State.
