Of course we have talked about the first unit offensive line having themselves a very strong day on the field, but #BigHuman prospects littered campus during the Saturday visit day with a heavy emphasis on the 2026 group. Four-star OL : "They said commit to Texas" Austin, Texas - One of the top prospects on campus Saturday in Austin was IMG Academy 2026 IOL Breck Kolojay. Kolojay, 6-5 and 295 pounds, has been a target of offensive line coach Kyle Flood since being offered June 9, 2023. The Denver native now at IMG Academy had been on campus in Austin once before, but it didn't compare to this trip which was much more one-on-one time with Flood and Steve Sarkisian. - Johntay Cook had the first TD of the scrimmage. - Manny Muhammad had an INT of an Arch Manning pass. - No major injuries, at least not ones that were during the practice. Anybody that was injured during a play, eventually got up and walked off. - First group of receivers were Isaiah Bond, DeAndre Moore and Johntay Cook. The receiver group rotated heavily. - Quinn Ewers looked extremely sharp. However, receivers did not make many contested catches, even on well-thrown passes. Arizona interior defensive lineman Bill Norton has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal according to a report from 247Sports' Matt Zenitz. Norton, who played under new Texas LB coach Johnny Nansen a year ago, started his career at Georgia and will be on the move again for his college career in 2024. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound defensive lineman split his snaps between the A-gap (170) and B-gap (179) in 2023 according to PFF. He wound up recording 32 tackles, two forced fumbles and three pass deflections. As Texas pursues options on the defensive line, Norton will be one to keep an eye on. Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Dallas Skyline linebacker Elijah Barnes who made his announcement Friday afternoon. Barnes was on campus in Austin April 6 for an unofficial where he was the only linebacker in the 2025 class to visit for the weekend. He left with a special playbook in hand from Johnny Nansen as well which was a pretty strong indication of where things were trending. A big get for Johnny Nansen who makes his first splash as the Longhorns' linebackers coach since being hired. Four-star TE from California locks in official visit Four-star tight end Kaleb Edwards (El Dorado Hills, Cali./Oak Ridge) picked up an offer from Texas January 16, 2024. And now Edwards, 6-6 and 225, is scheduled to make an official visit to Texas in June according to 247Sports West Coast reporter Brandon Huffman. OnTexasFootball can confirm the report. Four-star DL locks in Texas official visit Port Charlotte (Fla.) High 4-star defensive lineman Myron Charles made a first unofficial visit to Texas a week ago today. Seven days later, the disruptive tackle is scheduled to return in June. Charles, 6-4 and 290 pounds, is scheduled to make an official visit to Texas June 14-16 according to a source close to the recruitment. Texas joins the Sunshine State trio of powers scheduled to receive official visits. The Florida Gators are on the books first May 31-June 2. Some practice notes from yesterday... This is not a loaded practice report. But here are few things: - DJ Campbell was back in action. So the shoulder issue that occurred on Saturday, at least for now, seems to have been not much to worry about it. Fingers crossed we don't hear much about it and it was just a bruised shoulder or soreness. - The practice itself was described as lighter yet quicker than usual. As expected, the practice before a scrimmage is almost always a little less intense from a physicality standpoint. North Crowley High's Jonathan Cunningham made a second visit of 2024 today, this time with one of his coaches at the DFW area school. “I like how Coach Nansen coached," Cunningham told OnTexasFootball. A few recruiting nuggets as we await Friday and the weekend. *** Oklahoma played host to a pair of cornerbacks this weekend that have previously shown interest in the Longhorns – Cobey Sellers and Courtland Guillory. Of course, we have reported for a while now that Sellers is a guy that is leaning more towards the Sooners than Texas at the moment. Yesterday we were reminded of just how tenuous a relationship is between a player and his own future. It's a relationship that hangs in the balance with each and every decision an 18-to-22-year old player makes. The situation involving S'Maje Burrell, the redshirt freshman linebacker from North Crowley, is case and point. Burrell allegedly was the driver of the car that rear-ended T'Vondre Sweat. USC DT Bear Alexander took to twitter Wednesday afternoon to silence the reports and speculation about a potential portal entry. Reports surfaced yesterday that Alexander would be entering the portal when the window opened on April 15. However, since the morning, the tides flipped and a return to USC was becoming the side with momentum. Texas' hunt for a defensive tackle will continue in the portal next Monday. Texas hosted 2025 Ruston (LA) cornerback Aidan Anding over the weekend for an unofficial visit. After receiving an offer from the Texas staff on March 28, Anding and his family loaded up the car and made the seven hour trip to Austin to watch the scrimmage live and in-person. "I enjoyed it," Anding said following his visit. "It was nice out there. They had a good practice with the coaches out there." Anding mentioned the physicality of the practice as something that stood out to him while in attendance. The Texas Longhorns are in search of a fourth straight top 5 ranked recruiting class. On Texas Football has confirmed with multiple sources that RHP Grant Fontenot is no longer with the baseball team. The redshirt sophomore transferred in to Texas last fall after pitching one season at McLennan Community College after transferring from LSU. He is also no longer listed on the Texas Baseball roster. Wednesday AM recruiting nuggets Lewisville (Texas) High 5-star left tackle Michael Fasusi was on campus Tuesday for more of the day. He was accompanied on the trip by his father. Huhn originally got on the Texas radar with a visit in June for the elite camp. The talented quarterback got his first look at campus – aside from just driving through it, on his trip Saturday.
