Adding to the list of unofficial visitors on Thursday will be 2027 Bastrop QB Weston Nielsen. The 2027 cycle is a ways away, but the Longhorns are continuing to monitor their backyard with Nielsen. During the Elite 11 in late April, Nielsen told me he was planning on camping with the Longhorns June 1 for their Elite Camp. Steve Sarkisian stopped by Bastrop for his first stop of the contact window in January and QB coach AJ Milwee stopped by to watch Nielsen throw in offseason workouts in early February. A few more pieces of intel have arrived since the scrimmage on Saturday – including a nugget that highlights a pair of early enrollees. *** – I am told freshman wide receiver Parker Livingstone hauled in a 45-yard touchdown pass from QB Trey Owens during the scrimmage. Livingstone might surprise some folks with his speed, even at his 6-foot-4 frame. As for Owens, there has been a steady increase in consistency as the spring has progressed. The latest on Tilmon this evening: Those official visits Tilmon did not mention earlier are Baylor (June 14) and TCU (June 21). As for if Texas will receive one, there issue at hand is Tilmon finding time for them to squeeze in. Texas is pushing to replace one of the scheduled officials as you would expect. Texas might be fighting a bit of a taller hill here after offering so late in the process. Tilmon has been courted by the regional in-state schools for much longer. I’ve been part of ranking recruits, at one level or another, since 1993. I’ve made some good calls, some bad ones and plenty in between. And I’ve learned a lot along the way. Here are a couple of pieces I try to keep in mind: - Recruits never get appreciably faster. - Recruits never get appreciably quicker. - Recruits never appreciably improve their ball skills (at receiver, RB or DB). Texas is currently at 12 commitments for the 2025 recruiting class. In the next 14 days, we could theoretically see that number almost double. But I suspect it’s more likely we see the Longhorns add approximately 7-to-8 new pledges in that time frame. AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns have one commitment in 2027 from Atascocita in defensive lineman Jason Johnson, and now have their sights set on the program in 2028 in David Dotson. TAMPA, Fla. — Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz provided an update on injured running back Ahmad Hardy on Monday at SEC Media Days. Hardy, the nation’s second-leading rusher from 2025, suffered an offseason gunshot wound in May. “Ahmad has been medically cleared from the bullet that struck him, and he is on the road to recovery,” Drinkwitz told reporters. “The bullet did strike a bone in his body, and that has been fully healed and cleared, and today was his first day back towards a full recovery. North Shore OL Abdus Kone was on campus April 3rd for the Longhorns scrimmage on Friday night.
