A quick recap in where things sit right now in the 2025 Texas class. It is July 10 and the Longhorns currently sit with 13 commits in the class with a ranking right around 20. It may not be exactly where you would have hoped to have seen Texas at this point in the year, however there remains plenty of opportunities this month for some dominoes to fall favorably. We are in a bit of a waiting game in the world of recruiting at the moment. Hurricane Beryl has delayed the announcements of several Texas targets, leaving the door open for flips and final pitches to be extended. The offseason is absolutely rolling when each time the ESPN FPI rankings get updated and luckily we enter the summer chapter of college football's return with a new ranking to discuss. Texas comes in at No. 3 – about where their consensus ranking has them. Adding Jermayne Lole, Jay'Vion Cole and Bill Norton out of the spring portal allowed for Texas to add depth and experience to its defensive roster. The current philosophy in Austin, Texas has been to find a big name quarterback early in recruiting cycles and then build the class around that marquee name. Since Steve Sarkisian took the job at Texas, the Longhorns have been early on adding the quarterback in each of his recruiting classes. After arguably the best transfer portal run in men's college basketball this offseason, 2026-27 looks like it could be a special year for the Texas Longhorns. ESPN released its Way-Too-Early Top 25 this week, with the Longhorns checking in at No. 7, up from No. 13 earlier in the offseason. For the second straight season Texas women's basketball got knocked out in the Final Four, this year falling to eventual national champion UCLA. Fortunately for the Longhorns, Vic Schaefer and his staff have the top-ranked recruiting class coming in this offseason to join forces with a star studded roster. Former Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. is a mainstay in mock NFL Drafts that predict the first two rounds. Hill has been as high as late first round in some projections, but mostly has stuck in the Round 2. On Tuesday morning, ESPN's Field Yates put out his Rounds 1 and 2 mock. Where the 2025 No. 1 ranked class stands headed into the 2026 season The Texas Longhorns No. 1 ranked 2025 class is heading into year two on the Forty Acres. The class of 25 signees is down to 20 remaining in the program after five transferred out following the 2025 season. Of the 20, at least three will be starters headed into year two, and six or seven will be second team.
