Players limited RB CJ Baxter (knee) RB Christian Clark (achilles) WR DeAndre Moore EDGE Colton Vasek (shoulder) DB Derek Williams Jr. The new name to the list is wide receiver DeAndre Moore, who On Texas Football believes is dealing with a toe injury that lingered from the season. As for the running backs – Sarkisian says CJ Baxter does not have a timeline for a full recovery, and adds it probably would not be very fair to Baxter put him on a path with the way that ACL inju…

Two weeks ago, we mentioned that star wide receiver Ryan Wingo would be out for spring because of a hamstring injury. Last week, we learned that potential starting tight end Jordan Washington would be out for a while, a note which Steve Sarkisian confirmed at his press availability earlier today. At the time, we said there was another injury situation we were monitoring. Well, we can now divulge that redshirt freshman defensive end Zina Umeozulu missed some practice time the last week and a half because he was out with a thumb issue that required minor surgery. He was back at practice today. Umeozulu had started spring camp off with a very strong practice before…

Playmakers. Touchdown scorers. Ballers. Call them whatever you want, but that’s what every great team has. And the term certainly applies to Jermaine Bishop Jr., who committed to Texas yesterday afternoon. A Willis High School product, Bishop totaled 18 receiving touchdowns as a junior with more than 1,500 yards receiving. He’s been an impact player ever since he stepped onto his high school campus. He was district defensive newcomer of the year as a freshman. He played varsity basketball and ran varsity track as a freshman, too. He’s related to some fairly good athletes, too. Try former Kansas State quarterback Michael Bishop, NBA star Jimmy Butl…

On Texas Football coverage of SEC Media Days is brought to you by Vonlane, Flat Creek Estate Winery, Advanced Pain Care and South Point Dodge. *** “Muzzling Michael” or “Timeout Taaffe.” Whatever you want to call it, there has been a recurring theme this offseason for the Texas secondary: Purposefully mute the mouthpiece of the Texas defense. Whether it is spring practices, summer throwing sessions or conditioning drills, every now and then there is a figurative Uno Skip Card handed to Michael Taaffe by the Texas coaching staff when it comes to how vocal he can be out on the field. The objective of placing Taaffe in vocal chord confinement is to a…

Texas has taken no backseats to anyone in recruiting since Steve Sarkisian and his staff arrived in at the turn of the calendar in 2021. Coming from Alabama, where talent was basically like sand particles in a desert, to Texas where you essentially had to shake and tilt vending machines to get what you asked for originally, it was a bit of a shock for the staff. Of course, then there is the famous line from Steve Sarkisian in regards to the offensive line having almost half as many scholarship roster spots as wide receiver. Point being, there was work needed to be done and immediately so by the staff to get things to where they wanted to go. Though, as we sit he…
