Texas Hoops: Sean Miller on the road seeing targets; roster update Sean Miller and staff are on the road again this week. Miller is leaving zero doubt with the Goosby family of where Austin Goosby sits on the Longhorns board in 2026. Miller and Ulric Malagi will be back at Melissa High this morning to see the 6-5.5 guard and top 35 ranked prospect in the cycle. Goosby is a Texas lean over BYU, Kansas and SMU with Alabama and Duke likely to jump on board during the May "live period". There’s a lot to digest from last night. - We could spend all day dissecting what went wrong in pass protection for the Horns. - The Longhorn offensive line was clearly overwhelmed way too often. - Yet Quinn Ewers did his teammates no favors. In the face of a legit pass rush, Ewers folded as easily as a piece of paper in a book. - He repeatedly bailed backwards instead of stepping into the pocket. In doing so, Ewers gave the Georgia pass rushers an even larger target. Georgia could use the wide pass rush and therefore make the Texas OTs protect more space. Over the weekend Texas hosted Notre Dame OF Bino Watters for a visit. Watters then left and visited LSU on Monday. Earlier this week I reported that things looked good for Texas and Watters and that Texas A&M, who also hosted him, believed the Horns were leading. That has now changed. I fully expect LSU to be the destination for Watters and that announcement to come soon. There are a lot of moving parts in this recruitment and it's just one of those things that didn't work out. The Longhorns hosted another visitor earlier this week, however, and I'm told that visit went well. The team leaves for Omaha in just a few hours.

I've read way too much bs over the last 24 hours. Texas got beat on a recruit. Yes. Was it a tough loss? Absolutely. Have there been others, too? Yes, it hasn't been the first or even second time in the last couple of weeks. There may even be another today and more tomorrow. I get the frustration. I understand it. I truly do. But the absolute idea that Texas will somehow be defeated by this stretch and that the recruiting world of the Longhorns is coming to an end is nothing more than useless hyperbole. Hook ‘Em! A huge, huge, huge addition for the Texas Longhorns comes from the signing of former NC State running back Hollywood Smothers out of the portal. Smothers had originally committed to Alabama after entering the portal in mid-December, however Texas swoops in and flips the talented back. Smothers ran for 939 yards on 5.9 yards per attempt and found the end zone six times as well. He is considered one of the top running backs in the portal and the combination of Smothers and Raleek Brown gives Texas its best running back combination since Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson. Texas nickels Keynodo Hudson is not expected to return to the team in 2026. This is the first move of a couple dominoes expected to fall which will likely extend down to analysts as well. That move came as of Friday morning, just two days after the Longhorns defeated Michigan in the Citrus Bowl to conclude the 2025 season.
