Two DL's OTF is monitoring (one new name) OnTexasFootball is monitoring a couple of names headed into June on the defensive line for different reasons, and one is a new name. The name that is known to Texas fans is a Texas Tech pledge that has remained in contact with the staff for months. The new name is a recent Big 12 decommit that has the eye of the defensive staff. Ruston (La.) High and 4-star CB Aidan Anding told OTF Thursday evening that he is likely to announce his decision Monday, July 1. That is a change from original plan to announce Saturday. Texas remains in a pretty good spot. OnTexasFootball 4-star Smith Orogbo (Alief, Texas/Hastings) remains scheduled to announce July 1. OTF has Orogbo at over a 50% chance to pick the Longhorns over Washington Monday. Texas Tech and Oklahoma round out the final four. View full news story

Two more 4-star WR's lock in Texas OV's The Texas Longhorns have now locked in three 4-star wide receivers for official visits today. After the news broke that Naeem Burroughs (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) will make an OV June 20, OnTexasFootball can also report that Texas 4-star commitment Chris Stewart (Pearland, Texas/Shadow Creek) and 4-star++ and Texas A&M commitment Aaron Gregory (Douglassville, Ga./Douglas County) are locked in to make OV's June 13-15th. First up … Miami DL transfer Donta Simpson (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna) is scheduled to visit Texas Tuesday. The Texas visit will be followed by trips to Illinois, Washington and possibly SMU. ————— And on Wednesday, LSU NG transfer Zion Williams (Lufkin, Texas/High) is scheduled to visit Texas. He tells OTF he's cousins with 2028 DL target Kellan Hall out of Louisville. He's one of the top-rated defensive linemen in the country. Kellen is expected at Texas on Sunday for Elite Camp. Two visit updates; Georgia visitor list expands The Texas staff made a number of stops Friday in the states of Texas, Georgia and California. OnTexasFootball begins the week with a pair of updates on defensive lineman on the board for the Longhorns. Kevin Wynn and Malcolm Simpson Kenny Baker made a stop at Green County High in Greensoboro, Ga. Friday to see FSU 4-star+ DL commit Kevin Wynn. Georgia LB Raylen Wilson Speaks on Will Muschamp's Impact *** The beginning of day two at SEC Media Days belonged to the Dawgs. Texas has been a stalking horse now for three different recruitments of players who entered the portal only to return to their original teams. ** This is a mid-day update. On Texas Football has learned that Ohio State transfer DT Hero Kanu is on his way to Georgia today for an official visit. Kanu visited the Longhorns over the weekend, which was followed immediately by an official visit to Florida yesterday. We are told Kanu is expected to make a decision about his future on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Texas A&M was also thought to be involved but it doesn’t appear the Aggies will receive an official visit. Kanu is 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He would be the third transfer DT for the Horns this campaign. In that case, it’ll “be on a limited basis,” Steve Sarkisian said on Wednesday’s SEC Football Coaches Weekly Media Teleconference. Calvary Day, has moved his Texas official visit from this weekend to the month of November. Mathis is currently committed to LSU and has also taken visits to Clemson, Auburn and Miami. Update on OL Laurence Seymore, the most recent commitment to Texas: Spoke to someone close to the situation. Seymore is not expected to join Texas until summertime. He is finishing his undergrad degree this semester at Western Kentucky. Texas has a lot of confidence that he will be granted his waiver. However, the only timetable currently for that is “sometime this spring”. He is expected to visit Texas for the first time at some point in the next couple of weeks. View full news story

There is some commentary out there that Texas decided against a later start time against Ohio State. That has some truth to it. However, I’m told that it was not a later start time on Saturday that was actually proffered but an entirely different game day, asking the Longhorns to play on Sunday rather than Saturday. Quick update on Texas WR Parker Livingstone — Reports are surfacing that Texas is expected to have Livingstone available this weekend vs. Oklahoma. That is the plan for now. Livinngstone, and Texas, dodged a pretty significant injury on Saturday following a hit to the leg after a pretty remarkable reception. X-rays came back clean, and nothing structural is believed to be affected following the hit. Practice Updates on Arch Manning and Michael Taaffe *** – I have been told that Texas is doing whatever they can to get QB Arch Manning cleared and on the field for this weekend's game against Vanderbilt. Manning has been present at practice leading up to Wednesday, but mostly as a spectator. Louisville has not released running back Isaac Brown to the portal. Even though he has submitted his paperwork, Louisville has not signed off on the transfer portal waiver, according to sources. The Cardinals are clearly making a last-ditch effort to retain him and/or muddy the waters for potential suitors. LSU is said to be doing something similar to offensive tackle Carius Curne. Brown posted on Twitter on Jan. 1 his intent to transfer. Schools have 48 hours (or two business days) before they must submit the paperwork to the portal.
