The Texas visit will be followed by trips to Illinois, Washington and possibly SMU. ————— And on Wednesday, LSU NG transfer Zion Williams (Lufkin, Texas/High) is scheduled to visit Texas. The 6-4, 350-pounder went into the portal with a no contact tag. Those two prospects are OnTexasFootball 4-star++ defensive back Davon Benjamin (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) and 4-star+ EDGE Jake Kreul (Orlando, Fla./IMG Academy). -- As CJ noted earlier, Texas edge commit Cam Hall has shut down his recruitment. SMU and TCU were lingering but he is locked in with the Longhorns. He tells OTF he's cousins with 2028 DL target Kellan Hall out of Louisville. He's one of the top-rated defensive linemen in the country. Kellen is expected at Texas on Sunday for Elite Camp. Cam tells OTF he'll also be in town to watch Kellan work out. -- Texas EDGE commit Derwin Fields no longer plans to OV Ole Miss this upcoming weekend, but tells OTF he's still likely going to OV Ole Miss and LSU, just on different dates. He's still very firm with Texas at this point. View full news story

Two visit updates; Georgia visitor list expands The Texas staff made a number of stops Friday in the states of Texas, Georgia and California. OnTexasFootball begins the week with a pair of updates on defensive lineman on the board for the Longhorns. Kevin Wynn and Malcolm Simpson Kenny Baker made a stop at Green County High in Greensoboro, Ga. Friday to see FSU 4-star+ DL commit Kevin Wynn. Wynn told OnTexasFootball Sunday night that he has not yet locked in a visit date to Texas. Texas wants Wynn to make the visit with both parents, and that did not happen in June. That was key for FSU in the close of the recruitment. Wynn has been on campus at Sout…

Tyler Atkinson texted Gerry Hamilton following Atkinson’s official visit. Here’s what he texted Gerry: “My OV to Texas was eye-opening! This could be my last visit before I make the right choice, and I really feel it was a great decision to visit there. “ “This was my 4th visit with the Longhorns outside of pretty much living in Austin the past month for training. I have made some great connections there for sure. The biggest highlight this weekend was Coach Sark! I really appreciate the fact that he took the lead on my recruitment and has been hands-on with everything. That has shown me a lot.” “I spent the majority of the time with Coach S…

Georgia LB Raylen Wilson Speaks on Will Muschamp's Impact *** The beginning of day two at SEC Media Days belonged to the Dawgs. The 2x defending SEC Champions were on the podium, obviously headlined by Kirby Smart. My focus went to linebacker Raylen Wilson during the player breakouts. The 6-foot-1 linebacker totaled 74 total tackles for the Dawgs a year ago, including 2.5 sacks in 550 snaps in 2025. While Kirby Smart is the genius behind the Georgia defense, with DC Glenn Schumann sharing responsibilities as well. But there are other factors that have gone into making that side of the ball such a dominant force on the field over the last decade. O…

2026 Defensive Ceiling Contingent on Interior Pass Rush *** Expectations for this Texas defense are high. That is not exactly groundbreaking news. But the return of Will Muschamp to the sidelines at DKR with the crop of talent consisting of Colin Simmons, Rasheem Biles, Jelani McDonald and plenty of others, is reason alone to believe this unit could be atop of the SEC come the end of the season. After Monday's episode of The Winning Drive, I could not help but think we were missing one key piece of what has made Texas defenses so dangerous in year's past. The Longhorn defense a year ago was solid. It wasn't elite, but it was good. Texas finished …

Update on 2028 WR Recruiting OnTexasFootball checked in with multiple sources on Thursday to get the latest on wide receiver recruiting in the 2028 cycle. The Longhorns have thrown out more than 15 offers to wide receivers in the 2028 class to date. As we always say, not all offers are the same. That is especially the case after the spring evaluation period, in which the Texas staff was on the road evaluating hundreds of players in the 2028 cycle. OTF provides the latest update on the position: Texas' top 3 WR targets in 2028 headed into the 2026 season (junior season)... 1. Brysen Wright, 6-3, 195 (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin) - Made unofficial vis…

EDIT: At 2:39pm, Sprague announced he is returning to Michigan. Texas has been a stalking horse now for three different recruitments of players who entered the portal only to return to their original teams. ** This is a mid-day update. Still no word on offensive tackle Andrew Sprague. The Kansas City native is still debating between a move to Texas or returning to Michigan. Both sides are awaiting a decision. It was originally thought he would announce a decision this morning, so it could come at any time. View full news story

On Texas Football has learned that Ohio State transfer DT Hero Kanu is on his way to Georgia today for an official visit. Kanu visited the Longhorns over the weekend, which was followed immediately by an official visit to Florida yesterday. We are told Kanu is expected to make a decision about his future on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Texas A&M was also thought to be involved but it doesn’t appear the Aggies will receive an official visit. Kanu is 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He would be the third transfer DT for the Horns this campaign. Of course, Texas must replace its top four rotational players at DT next year as well as two others who left th…

Suppose Emmett Mosley V makes his Texas debut in the team’s home opener against San Jose State on Saturday (11 a.m., ABC). In that case, it’ll “be on a limited basis,” Steve Sarkisian said on Wednesday’s SEC Football Coaches Weekly Media Teleconference. The 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound sophomore transfer wide receiver didn’t play in last Saturday’s 14-7 road loss to Ohio State. Ahead of the showdown with the Buckeyes, Sarkisian said Mosley has been dealing with a lingering injury, which is why the Longhorns don’t want to take any unnecessary risks when trying to get the former Stanford playmaker back on the field. “I'm not in a rush with him because when we get…

Update on OL Laurence Seymore, the most recent commitment to Texas: Spoke to someone close to the situation. Seymore is not expected to join Texas until summertime. He is finishing his undergrad degree this semester at Western Kentucky. Texas has a lot of confidence that he will be granted his waiver. However, the only timetable currently for that is “sometime this spring”. He is expected to visit Texas for the first time at some point in the next couple of weeks. View full news story

There is some commentary out there that Texas decided against a later start time against Ohio State. That has some truth to it. However, I’m told that it was not a later start time on Saturday that was actually proffered but an entirely different game day, asking the Longhorns to play on Sunday rather than Saturday. The Longhorns declined, according to my source. Again, it wasn’t a later start time on Saturday but a different date altogether. View full news story

Quick update on Texas WR Parker Livingstone — Reports are surfacing that Texas is expected to have Livingstone available this weekend vs. Oklahoma. That is the plan for now. Livinngstone, and Texas, dodged a pretty significant injury on Saturday following a hit to the leg after a pretty remarkable reception. X-rays came back clean, and nothing structural is believed to be affected following the hit. For Livingstone’s availability and how much we will see of him this weekend, that will be dependent upon pain tolerance and swelling. Having covered Parker since HS, this game has always meant a lot to him. Now that he is a main piece of the Texas…

Practice Updates on Arch Manning and Michael Taaffe *** – I have been told that Texas is doing whatever they can to get QB Arch Manning cleared and on the field for this weekend's game against Vanderbilt. Manning has been present at practice leading up to Wednesday, but mostly as a spectator. However, on Wednesday, Manning's participation increased. – DB Michael Taaffe was active on the practice field Wednesday in a green, non-contact jersey. There is no guarantee that Taaffe sees the field, but if there is anything that I know about Taaffe having covered him for multiple years now, he will do anything possible to get on the field. The catc…

Louisville has not released running back Isaac Brown to the portal. Even though he has submitted his paperwork, Louisville has not signed off on the transfer portal waiver, according to sources. The Cardinals are clearly making a last-ditch effort to retain him and/or muddy the waters for potential suitors. LSU is said to be doing something similar to offensive tackle Carius Curne. Brown posted on Twitter on Jan. 1 his intent to transfer. Schools have 48 hours (or two business days) before they must submit the paperwork to the portal. However, it does not sound like Louisville's attempts are working and Brown is expected to officially be entered into the portal …
