  1. Tuesday afternoon recruiting nuggets Let's get this going before the drive home from work. Jackson Christian visits Texas again Port Neches (Texas) Groves 4-star IOL Jackson Christian was back on campus Tuesday for a second visit to Texas in four days. Christian, 6-5 and 313 pounds, took in the offensive line position meeting prior to watching practice and once again meeting with Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood. All signs point to two very positive visits, and there is confidence on the Texas side. Texas A&M continues to make a push, and there are multiple connections to Texas A&M at PN-G High. OTF percentage: 65% Jonah Williams and Texas…

  2. The big info: - Not much has changed since yesterday. I fully expect it to be one of the two candidates I alluded to on Monday afternoon. Unless something drastic happens, Schlossnagle or Vitello will be the next head coach of Texas. - I'd expect an announcement tomorrow, although there's a chance it could be Thursday. The big picture: This is huge for Texas. HUGE. For so many reasons. Here's a quick rundown of some of those... - I've had numerous sources reach out to me today telling me this will open the door for recruiting in a major way and could even impact football recruiting. - This is going to help NIL efforts. Fans will be behind thi…

In the last two days, two of the top defensive prospects on the West Coast have announced official visit dates to Texas in June. The two latest prospects in the 2025 cycle from California to lock in OV's are 4-star CB Dijon Lee (Mission Viejo, Cali./High) and 4-star LB Madden Faraimo (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./J Serra Catholic). 4. A couple of nuggets on this fine Tuesday morning. *** I exchanged messages with some folks this morning in regards to 2025 Folsom DL Josiah Sharma. OTF's Gerry Hamilton has done a great job with this recruitment. The big concern coming into the weekend was Alabama being able to use its preexisting relationship with Sharma to get the edge over the efforts Texas has been working on the last six months. Of course, Sharma was committed to Washington when DeBoer and his staff were still at UDub. Since the visit, the word I have received is more favorable to the Longhorns than it has been for Alabama. With a decision set to come Friday, I view the Longhorns …

  5. Updates from the Recruiting Trail *** Movement for 2026 In-State EDGE I continue to hear positives regarding Temple EDGE Jamarion Carlton. With Texas bringing in a talented group of edge rushers this weekend, the picture will be much clearer for where the Horns want to go at the position for the 2026 cycle. However, Carlton and Texas continue to move in a positive direction following multiple school visits in the spring by LaAllen Clark, followed up by the official visit over the weekend. Carlton had a very positive trip. The next trips for Carlton include Texas A&M this weekend and Baylor on June 20 to wrap up the month of June. June 13 EDGE …

  6. Following up Gerry with some notes on the recruiting front for the Longhorns this morning. *** Flood Watch Gerry mentioned this earlier that Kyle Flood is making rounds in the DFW area, meeting with Toa Katoa, Michael Fasusi and John Turntine. Yesterday, Flood met with 2026 OL Drew Evers at Flower Mound High School. Evers attended the Texas Junior Day in January and has been on the recruiting scene for Texas since receiving his offer September 5, 2023. QB Watching The Texas staff will stop by Bastrop Wednesday morning to see 2027 QB Weston Nielsen throw in-person. Texas has yet to offer the young arm, however, Nielsen has been on campus ple…

Lewisville (Texas) High offensive tackle Michael Fasusi is scheduled to arrive on the Forty Acres shortly. He will make the visit today with his dad. This will be the first visit to Texas for Fasusi and his father since the 2023 season after not attending Junior Day January 20. Today, the main stop was in Loganville, Ga. to watch the Grayson Rams practice. OnTexasFootball shares nuggets from the stop at the Atlanta area powerhouse with three state championships since 2011. 12. Tuesday Recruiting Notes OnTexasFootball compiled some notes in the last 24 hours to start you guys and gals Tuesday morning. Karnell "Greedy" James OTF stopped by Manvel High Monday for athletic period. I have known Manvel High for well over a decade in this business, and have been to Manvel High many times with the Mavericks having a lot of DI prospects come through the school since opening. Manvel High head coach Kirk Martin is a big fan of the recognition and eyes at safety Karnell James displays. Manvel High will also play him at corner next season, as well as safety. James recently turned 17, but he's a young 17 physically. He's not even cl…

  13. Tuesday Recruiting: Bey still in play?, visits and Goosby The recruiting wheels are moving quickly in both football and basketball. Steve Sarkisian and staff are working to sign a fifth straigth top 5 level class, while Sean Miller awaits two Friday announcements that will in part set the portal strategy in the spring. OTF provides the latest from the recruiting trail. Legend Bey planning a Texas visit? Ohio State flipped North Forney playmaker Legend Bey from Tennessee on Monday. Last night, the 5-10.5, 175-pounder told OTF via DM that he may still make a visit to Texas November 22. OTF isn't exactly buying that fully, but Texas will keep trying t…

  14. Tuesday Recruiting: Latest on targets and commits I'm just going to run down the latest on several prospects. 5-star Richard Anderson, DL, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr - The future of Frank Wilson on Lane Kiffin's staff looms large here. Anderson is not planning to sign Wednesday, per a source close to the recruitment. His mom still wants him at LSU, but Frank Wilson does loom large. Texas has spoken with the 6-foot-3, 350-pounder and his high school coach today. 4-star+ Brysten Martinez, OT, Gonzales (La.) East Ascension - the 6-foot-6, 307-pound LSU plege has not informed the Texas staff of a final decision, as of 1:30 pm today. And the staff has spoken …

  15. Tuesday Recruiting: Sales and LW-C The Texas Longhorns and Indiana Hoosiers await the Friday announcement of 5-star wide receiver Monshun Sales (Indianapolis, In./Lawrence North). Indiana has been considered the favorite for weeks leading up to Sales July 17 announcement on the Pat McAfee Show at 11am CT. The Hoosiers have made the 6-foot-5 receiver a completely different level recruit from an NIL perspective than any other in the Curt Cignetti era, and ever. That is by a significant margin. The one issue Indiana has battled throughout this recruitment is no matter the National Championship or not, Sales didn't grow up envisioning himself wearing an Indiana foo…

  16. Tuesday Texas Thoughts: Bigday on the Forty Acres To say today is a big day on the Forty Acres would be an understatement. The schedule ... Spring practice media window at 9:10am CST. OTF will have live shows and thoughts here. Sean Miller introductory press conference at 11am CST. Pro Day 1pm CST. Aaliyah Chavez announcement 1pm CST. If I were forced to make a pick, as of late yesterday afternoon, it would be trending to Oklahoma. But Texas Tech was trying to come over the top of everyone late Monday. Some thoughts ... 17. Gerry wrote this morning, it’s SEC recruiting, so gird your loins. Whether it’s defensive tackle Brandon Brown or wide receiver Dakorien Moore and linebacker Riley Petitjohn, Texas has entered the realm of elite recruiting. That means just about every single player the Horns are recruiting will be a true fist fight. The layup recruitments just aren’t going to happen very often, not when you’re consistently trying to outdo other elite programs. For us, that means more ups and downs than was formerly customary during recruiting. More surprise visitors elsewhere, more committed recruits still taking visits, just more mayhem generally. But I think Ste…

  18. This is my third preseason SEC Media Days. And thus far, it is the most subdued by a long shot. No one has talked much trash. The closest we came to that yesterday was Josh Heupel, who more closely resembles an altar boy, asking Tennessee fans to get ready for the return of Lane Kiffin with golf balls and mustard. In other news: - Eli Drinkwitz of Missouri announced Ahmard Hardy, his star running back, is expected to be ready for the season after being shot just a couple of months ago. - Brent Venables is rightfully proud of his defense and, perhaps most importantly, genuinely feels like he’s improved the pieces around his quarterback on offense. …

  19. Started by Bobby Burton,

Some odds and ends from early workouts: - Jay’Vion Cole has impressed early in on-field work. - So has Andrew Mukuba. Despite the return of both Michael Taffe and Derek Williams at safety, it is simply going to be very hard to keep Mukuba out of the starting lineup come August. Mukuba is said to be extremely consistent at a fairly high level. - Of the younger OLs, Jaydon Chatman and Brandon Baker both returned from break ready to go. Their athleticism is among the best of all OLs. - Silas Bolden is both quick and fast. And a hard worker. What’s more, he adds some much-needed older leadership to the wide receiver room. - Cedric Baxter and Jaydon Bl…

  20. It has oft been talked about the importance of the month of June when it comes to the eventual building of the Texas class. Each cycle we have seen Texas go on runs stemming from the official visits in the back of the June. As we sit a week and some change away from the fifth flip of the calendar this year, expect to return to the board with good news often over the next 30+ days. *** The Next Week Texas still has a 'Hi' outstanding from Gerry's post last week. We at OTF believe that could go public at anytime. Unrelated to the 'Hi' is the upcoming decision from 2025 Calvary Baptist Academy (LA) RB James Simon set to air May 29. Simon visited Tex…

  21. As we head down the homestretch of these two recruitments, there has been some movement. While top-rated tackle John Turntine looks more and more likely to choose the Longhorns tomorrow, the same can not be said for Mansfield Lake Ridge lineman Felix Ojo. Ojo, who has visited Texas, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Florida, Ole Miss and Utah, is expected to announce his decision tomorrow at 1pm. Ojo is telling some that his decision is expected to come down to Ohio State and Texas. However, Texas Tech is considered very much in the mix. According to two different sources, the Red Raiders have put the largest NIL deal on the table for Ojo. Ojo has the same agent…

  22. Twelve Longhorns with NFL Draftable Grades entering the 2024 season One of the interesting nuggets picked up this week during the SEC Media Days is how many Texas players on the 2024 roster that are draft eligible possess NFL draftable grades entering the 2024 season. The information came during a conversation with Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy. When we asked about the Texas 2024 draft prospects, he went to his phone, pulled up players in CFB with draftable grades and the number was ... 12. A big number no doubt! OTF lists the 12 players with draftable grades according to the Senior Bowl scouts. 1. Quinn Ewers, QB, junior 2. Isaiah Bo…

  23. Twenty OV's remain The Texas staff is scheduled to host 20 official visitors this week and weekend to close out the summer official visit process. Steve Sarkisian and staff are coming off a very positive weekend with a number of recruitments leaning to Texas, or have the Horns in the top two with decisions looming. OnTexasFootball takes a look at what's on tap this week. June 18-20 (3) Dorian Brew, CB, Conroe (Texas) High OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star Official visit schedule: LSU May 31-June 2, USC June 7-9, Oregon June 14-16, Texas June 18-20 and Ohio State June 21-23 Dijon Lee, CB, Mission Hills (Calif.) 24. Two 4-star DL's committed elsewhere in Austin The Texas Longhorns are hosting a pair of 4-star defensive lineman committed to other power programs today. Steve Sarkisian and Kenny Baker are continuing to go after top targets on the defensive line, and now a new target has emerged. OnTexasFootball has the scoop here: Antonio Coleman, DL, Saraland (Ala.) High When Bo Davis was at Texas, the Longhorns attempted to pursue the 4-star teammate of quarterback commitment K.J. Lacey. During that time, the 6-2 and 275 pound athletic disruptor, committed to Alabama, flipped to Auburn and then flipped back to Alabama. Now the Texas Longhorns are engaged in …

  25. Two big recruiting notes OnTexasFootball caught up with two of the nations top prospects today. And the news is both good and not so positive. Texas and 5-star Tyler Atkinson … Multiple members of the Texas defensive staff are in a consistent communication with Grayson High (Loganville, Ga.) since the departure of area recruiter Tashard Choice. OnTexasFootball spoke with a member of the 6-2, 210-pounders circle today and the news for the Longhorns was positive. Atkinson remains very likely to make a June OV to Texas - as of today. Atkinson and family continue to have very positive feelings and thoughts about the Texas program. Texas …
