AUSTIN, Texas — Five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou returned to the Forty Acres on Saturday, opting for a return trip to Austin instead of Michigan. The last time he was in town was for UT’s win over Texas A&M in November. “This trip I think (what) stood out to me was being able to connect with the D-end’s coach (LaAllan Clark),” Fakatou told OTF. “Because when I came last year I was like 310 pounds, so I was seen as a D-tackle. But I was playing edge at high school. That’s what I want to play when I go to college. Wednesday AM recruiting nuggets Lewisville (Texas) High 5-star left tackle Michael Fasusi was on campus Tuesday for more of the day. He was accompanied on the trip by his father. Fasusi took in most of the Texas practice and met with Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian for an extended amount of time. As important as the meetings were with Flood and Sarkisian for Fasusi and his father, it was the business school that took center stage. Port Charlotte (Fla.) High 4-star defensive lineman Myron Charles has his official visit date to Texas locked in. Texas had been working on the June 14-16 date, but has settled on getting him in earlier. The Longhorns are set to host the 6-4, 290 pounder May 31-June 2 for an official visit. Charles made an unofficial visit to Texas in late March, and the visit impressed to the level of securing an OV. Florida State has been considered the favorite for months. The Seminoles get the last OV June 21-23. He will visit Texas, Miami and Florida in that order prior to FSU.

Texas women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer was also part of the SEC spring meetings with his peers in hoops. While the football coaches were busy trying to figure out what to do with potential roster restrictions, the women's basketball group was talking about something more mundane. The 2024 recruiting class with portal transfers added A member of the OnTexasFootball community made a post about what the 2024 recruiting class would look like with two 2024 recruits added that have transferred to Texas. Those two additions would be Freshman All-American Maraad Watson and freshman starter at Stanford Emmett Mosley V. Updates on the 2026 Class *** Five-star Texas OT commit John Turntine III lived up to the ranking in his scrimmage on Thursday against Allen. In pass protection specifically, Turntine was nails. Afterwards, Turntine told me that he is entering his senior season around 270 pounds with hopes to get up to about 280-285 by the time he enrolls at Texas in January for the spring semester. Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Dallas Skyline linebacker Elijah Barnes who made his announcement Friday afternoon. Barnes was on campus in Austin April 6 for an unofficial where he was the only linebacker in the 2025 class to visit for the weekend. He left with a special playbook in hand from Johnny Nansen as well which was a pretty strong indication of where things were trending. OnTexasFootball was informed that Conroe (Texas) High 4-star cornerback Dorian Brew is making his visit to UCS this weekend around a local graduation of a family member on the mother’s side. The family is in the process of shuffling the OV schedule the remainder of the month, and Texas is expected to receive a weekend official visit (either June 14-16 or 21-23). Texas up to 38 OV's The Texas Longhorns are up to 38 official visitors locked in for June with 4-star++ cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) in for June 13-15th. The younger brother of NFL star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will also be on campus for unofficial visit in late April. That will be his first trip to Texas.
