Proposed Rule Changes for the 2026 Season *** Division I football leaders are considering several rule changes for the 2026 season, highlighted by a proposed overhaul of the targeting penalty structure on a one-year trial basis. NCAA PR released an article on Thursday emphasizing the proposed rules and what the changes would be. In college sports, there are few things sweeter than going on the road and defeating your arch-rival. There are even fewer things better than capsizing another team’s chances at post-season opportunities and demoralizing a fan base. A lot of people ask me why I’m so optimistic about the 2026 season. So why am I? It comes down to the players and their experience. It’s really that simple.
