Matt Zenitz of 247Sports has reported Texas EDGE J'Mond Tapp has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Tapp appeared in seven games in 2023 while accumulating eight tackles in his 98 snaps. A member of the 2022 class, Tapp displayed plenty of promise, though with the addition of Colin Simmons, Trey Moore and the return of Colton Vasek, the defensive end room got crowded quickly. Kade Phillips update Missouri City, Texas - OnTexasFootball 4-star defensive back Kade Phillips has one official visit behind him, and has three decisive ones coming up. Phillips, 6-2 and 178 pounds, made an official visit to Baylor the last weekend of April. And while the Houston area two-sport star likes Bears DB coach Kevin Curtis, Baylor is not expected to be the pick. Yesterday we were reminded of just how tenuous a relationship is between a player and his own future. It's a relationship that hangs in the balance with each and every decision an 18-to-22-year old player makes. The situation involving S'Maje Burrell, the redshirt freshman linebacker from North Crowley, is case and point. Burrell allegedly was the driver of the car that rear-ended T'Vondre Sweat. The accident flipped Sweat's car, Sweat himself was arrested for DUI, while Burrell fled the scene. News of Burrell's involvement was first reported yesterday. TCU defensive tackle Damonic Williams is expected to make a decision today. No specific time has been given for an announcement, but we're hearing the decision could come as soon as noon. The ball is in Williams' court. He is expected to decide between Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Missouri, after visiting each of the schools in the last 12 days. They include: - The Coleman triplets; I only saw Jordan initially. - Caleb Chester - Zelus Hicks That is a total of 24 true freshman who saw action. The only two I did not see were Jackson Christian and Rickey Stewart. I could be wrong on Christian still. I’ll start my re-watch at about 10am this morning. The season opener took place at DKR in front of 99,171 spectators where the Longhorns put on an absolute clinic defensively and the offense found a scorching hot rhythm as the game progressed. ---- Pregame – It is much cooler than I expected about a week ago. Texas made a new scholarship offer to a class of 2026 prospect earlier today. Traeviss Stevenson of Brooks Co. High School in Quitman, Ga., was offered by Texas assistant Jeff Banks. Stevenson is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back who could play any of the three secondary positions (corner, safety or nickel).
