Four-star cornerback Montre Jackson wrapped up an official visit to Texas over the weekend, a return trip to the Forty Acres for the Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial product. He's named Texas his leader throughout the spring. He maintains the Longhorns are still on top after the weekend. He gave OTF a brief synopsis on the visit. "It went great overall," Jackson told OTF. A quick update on the Texas scholarship count with the early enrollees now fully moved onto campus and the semester starting back up for the spring term. By my count, Texas sits with 78 scholarships on campus at the moment, with three waiting to arrive in the summer. So 81 of the 85 scholarships are accounted for at the moment based off of my list. *** Quarterback (3) Arch Manning Trey Owens KJ Lacey The Texas quarterback room is in good hands. Texas SEC basketball schedule released: It's a doozy The Texas Longhorns football program received a favorable year one schedule. The basketball team did not. The SEC released the conference slate for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, and Rodney Terry and staff have a scheduled that includes nine opponents that are in Joe Lunardi's ESPN Bracketology from July 31. One of the more intriguing storylines in this Texas-Arizona State Peach Bowl matchup is the group of Sun Devils set to face off against their former Longhorn teammates. Texas is set to hire former Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops as a special assistant to head coach Steve Sarkisian, OnTexasFootball has confirmed. Horns247's Chip Brown was first to report. The role had a vacancy after Neal Brown left the staff to take over as head coach of North Texas. The longtime Wildcats coach was let go in December after 13 seasons leading the UK program. The in-state standout didn't wait long to take the Longhorns up on the invitation, and has signed with the program ahead of summer. Morris has 2,021 yards and 20 touchdown passes in his career, after seeing in game time across four different seasons. Morris saw three live action across three games in 2025, he threw for 304 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. The rising senior is originally from Carrollton, Georgia.
