Texas Hoops: The season is here! The Texas Longhorns have begun practice for the 2024-25 season with the first game November 4 in Las Vegas against Ohio State on TNT or True Network. The early returns after two practices are a team that has a much more talented and versatile roster than a year ago. Texas has the tallest/longest group of guards seen in Austin in a long time, and has versatility to play big guard lineups and play a more up tempo small lineup that can still defend with length and perimeter switching ability. This 2024-25 team features 5-star freshman shooting guard Tre Johnson, who will be a first round pick and possible lottery pick, and f…

Texas Hoops: Three scholarships remain; one key need Sean Miller and staff have three more scholarships possible to fill on the 2025-26 roster. The Texas roster is appearing in a number of way too early top 25 rankings. That includes a couple of ranking with Texas at No. 18 and No. 20, but that will likely only come to fruition if Miller and staff hit on the next two guard spots. Miller immediately addressed the needed height and length in the program in short order. The current Texas roster now features six players that stand 6-foot-8 or more. The four portal transfers thus far stand 7-foot, 6-foot-10, 6-foot-8 and a very athletic 6-foot-7. Add in three young b…

Texas hosted Miami (Fla.) Coral Gables defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui last weekend for an unofficial visit. It was a makeup trip for the talented 6-foot-2.5, 295-pounder after his flight got cancelled earlier this month. The Longhorns offered Keumajou Yondui earlier this year and have quickly impressed. “I loved the visit to Texas,” he told OTF. “I wanted to take the visit to keep my options open and compare. “They showed me on a presentation the pros and the cons on film and what I need to do to become a standout next year.” OTF reached out to Keumajou Yondui after his visit and he said he plans to lock in an official visit with Texas b…

Texas will be recruiting USC defensive tackle Bear Alexander if he becomes available in the portal. His interest in Texas, based on sources close to Alexander, is expected to be highly mutual. What are the odds Texas pulls this off? Well, if Alexander enters the portal as has been reported he will, Texas becomes the immediate favorite to land him. ** I've said it multiple times in the last couple of months. The nose tackle or zero technique position is the one spot on the Horns' roster that was left decimated by the departures of T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy. Steve Sarkisian was staring at a similar situation at wide receiver in December and w…

The Longhorns hit the ground running after returning from Omaha and wasted no time getting right back to the portal. Texas began hosting St. Mary's catcher Ian Armstrong yesterday and Kent State outfielder Sawyer Solitaria will arrive this morning. Both of those visits will wrap up tonight (more on why below). --- The Longhorns will not host any other visitors this weekend, as there is a small dead period that starts on Saturday and runs through Monday. Remember, both the CWS Championships and Father's Day are this weekend, thus the dead period. --- I feel it's worth mentioning that freshman catcher Presley Courville entered the portal last night.…
