Texas leads for out of state 4-star The Texas Longhorns have made 2026 4-star+ Dylan Berymon (Monroe, La./Ouachita Baptist) defensive lineman a priority since June. And the constant effort of Kenny Baker is paying off. Berymon, 6-1.5, 310-pounds, told OnTexasFootball Friday that he has a leader. "Texas is at the top," Berymon said. "They are my favorite." April 15 marks the first day of the next NCAA portal window opening which is only a handful of sleeps away. Bobby Burton posted a great update this morning on Texas' approach to the defensive tackle position with a possible target in a former TXHSFB player from the DFW area. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports has reported Texas EDGE J'Mond Tapp has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Tapp appeared in seven games in 2023 while accumulating eight tackles in his 98 snaps. A member of the 2022 class, Tapp displayed plenty of promise, though with the addition of Colin Simmons, Trey Moore and the return of Colton Vasek, the defensive end room got crowded quickly. Texas defensive back Austin Jordan becomes the latest to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Jordan, a member of the 2023 Texas recruiting class, appeared in 25 career games as a Longhorn, though mostly in a reserve capacity. Eau Gallie, Fla., defensive lineman Brandon Brown, who is committed to Texas, has made it to LSU for his official visit this weekend to LSU. He plans to visit Tennessee next weekend, and then Texas the following week. But he has changed some other plans. Brown was slated to visit either USC or A&M the final week of June. 2025 Mission Viejo CB Dijon Lee will no longer officially visit Texas this week he told me late last night. Instead, the plan will be to arrive June 18-20 for a midweek official visit. Lee had originally been scheduled to arrive this afternoon and spend all of Thursday and parts of Friday with the Texas staff before hitting the road for his official visit to Texas A&M. Texas continues to have plenty of ground to make up here, as Lee previously left the Longhorns out of his top four — Georgia, Alabama, Washington and A&M. Well, the SEC injury report for the Longhorns certainly was surprising. Texas punter Michael Kern, a freshman from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was listed as questionable. Kern appeared to tweak his groin against Mississippi State but Texas never punted again in the contest so his health flew under the radar. So the starting Texas punter, as well as the starting deep snapper, Tate Haver, are now listed as questionable. Texas is expected to turn to Ian Ratliff, a sophomore walk-on from Atascocita, at punter. Kern beat out Ratliff in the competition for the job during fall camp.
