NCAA Selection Sunday Thread The Texas men await Selection Sunday with real uncertainty, while the women will be celebrating a No. 1 seed. Do the men get in? Rodney Terry's squad is squarely on the bubble. Some think Texas will be left out. Some think Texas will get the last spot in the Field of 68 play-in game. Warren Roberson to Return to Texas in 2026 *** Positive news on the retention front: Cornerback Warren Roberson will be returning to Texas for the 2026 season. Roberson had initially announced his intentions to enter the portal on January 12, though the Longhorns were able to reel Roberson back and retain him for the 2026 season. Roberson appeared in 11 games for the Longhorns this past season, totaling 187 snaps. He played a major role in the Citrus Bowl victory over Michigan, with a season high 53 snaps coming in the final game of the season. Ask away Easton Royal is down to three, well he already was. As OTF has been reporting for months now, Royal is Texas with Florida No. 2 and LSU No. 3. We shall see where it ends. The University of Texas has its 27th head coach in program history. Chris Del Conte has hired Sean Miller as the next coach of the Texas Longhorns. Our Gerry Hamilton has been all over the coaching search and quickly pointed towards Sean Miller being a possibility for the Longhorns and alas, the move has been made. Miller began his head coaching career at Xavier in the 2004-05 season. During his initial five-year tenure (2004-2009), he led the Musketeers to a 120-47 record and four NCAA tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run. The Texas Longhorns are back on the court tonight hosting Chicago State. Texas is coming off an 90-59 victory over Houston Christian with Tre Johnson leading all scorers with 28. Johnson is averaging 28.5 points per game through the first two games of his college career. SEC Hoops: Texas at Georgia Game Thread Texas (17-9, 8-5) is on a five game winning streak in SEC play, but will now enter the toughest four game stretch of the season due to what's on the line. First up, is a trip to the Peach State to take on 18-8 (6-7 in SEC) Georgia. The Bulldogs are coming off an upset win at Kentucky, which stopped a skid of losing five of the last six games. I’ve watched the game twice now. Texas got beat up front. Brutally bad. The offensive line The interior DL of Georgia routinely defeated the Texas offensive guards. That’s just a hard fact. The Texas guards could not move any of them, not even on combo blocks with Jake Majors. Kyle Flood even inserted Cole Hutson into the game to try to shake things up. Hutson played well. But the Georgia interior was just having none of it. And the Georgia defensive ends were at best stalemated. I could only find two instances where the Texas tackles caved in the Georgia DEs. With the news of Josiah Sharma and Myron Charles selecting other schools, it puts the Longhorns in a precarious position at defensive tackle recruiting in the 2025 class. Texas, ideally, wanted 3-4 prospects at the position in the 2025 recruiting class. But the Horns only brought in five players for official visits. Three of those are now officially off the board, leaving only Brandon Brown and DJ Sanders. While Texas sits in a strong position for Sanders, Brown is still contemplating multiple schools despite his current pledge to Texas. In some ways, the red zone woes of this team are well documented, so the failure to score at the end seems almost fitting. Yet it doesn’t, not completely. Why?
