The Texas Longhorns begin their NCAA-record 39th trip to the College World Series looking for their NCAA-record 89th CWS victory against the Georgia Bulldogs. Texas (45-13) and Georgia (51-12) didn't meet in the regular season or the SEC Tournament, both of which the Bulldogs won en route to the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. JJ Kelly? I didn’t know if we were sticking with the 84 theme or not. I’ve heard stories though about JJ Kelly, Aaron Humphrey and Casey Hampton.

Marquise Goodwin is the most under utilized/misused offensive skill player I’ve ever seen in a Texas uniform. It’s scary to think what kind of a weapon he could been in an offense like Sark’s and with consistent quarterback play.

From a Texas standpoint, that game created a villain. Spurrier hired Bob Stoops to fix the defense. Florida won the title in ‘96. Two years later, OU hired Stoops to replace John Blake. So, in a way, Texas having to deal with Bob Stoops for nearly two decades is Nebraska’s fault.

Manhandling a Spurrier-coached Florida team the way the Huskers did is one of the most impressive beatdowns in a big game you’ll ever see.

There have only been nine guys in the history of the Texas program who’ve hit 19 or more home runs in a season. It’s a pretty significant number.

Schloss on A-Rod: "He's got a chance to be an iconic player in the history of Texas baseball."

Schloss is hoping that this summer, they'll get Rodriguez's hand situation fully resolved.

Schloss said Adrian Rodriguez "is the most courageous player I've ever coached."

Schloss: "We want to be an all-encompassing offense every year. Those are the ones that are toughest to prepare for, so we'll take whatever they give us."

Schloss said he's "super proud" of the fact that Texas is the first Power Conference program to have 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases in a season. Schloss said the goal has been for Texas to be diverse enough offensively to score runs, no matter the conditions.

Other than Max Grubbs, "we're in a really good spot," in the bullpen, Schloss said. He specifically said Brett Crossland threw well this week and that Haiden Leffew "is in a good spot."

Like Anthony Pack Jr., Schloss said Cozart has the right combination of confidence and humility that all of the great players he's coached have possessed.

Sam Cozart is "mature beyond his years," Schloss said. He's emerged as one of the top leaders on the team as a freshman.

After pressing early in the season, Schloss said we're seeing the best version of Carson Tinney now that he's settled in, gotten to know his teammates and relaxed.

Schloss said Carson Tinney has grown as a leader on the team throughout the season. "He loves being a Longhorn," Schloss said of his All-American catcher.

Schloss, who's on the board for the American Baseball Coaches Association, said there will be discussions in the offseason regarding whether the portal window should stay the same or move to where it opens after the College World Series.

"It is what it is" Schloss said regarding having to recruit from the transfer portal while trying to get ready for a game in Omaha.

It was "a horrific taste" Texas got in Hoover at the SEC Tournament, but Schloss said the Longhorns have made the most of it by being able to set up the pitching staff for the postseason.

Schloss said he's glad Dariyan Pendergrass is healthy because the outfield in Omaha is big and there's a lot of ground to cover.

Schloss said the Longhorns can't get caught in the matchup with Georgia. It's about pitching, throwing strikes, playing good defense and timely hitting, which is the case in most baseball games.
