Flawed logic has tainted the College Football Playoff selection process
I think a simple solution to how to select the playoff teams is to remove the committee all together and create a ladder point system that would rank the teams week to week (separate from the AP poll ofc). The way it could work is you only gain points if you win and the amount of points you gain is based on the quality of opponent you are playing. This system would balance out the risk/reward of scheduling tougher games. You can either gain a lot of points for a big win or get 0 points for a loss. It also would not allow teams with a soft schedule to get fewer points for wins over bad teams. The amount you win by would have no value on the amount of points you win. No more G5 teams and auto bids but instead just straight up top 12 in points move into the playoffs with the seedings in place. Conference championships could either not count because it's an extra game for only some teams or it could act as bonus points for conference winners which would all but ensure them a high ranking and a good seeding. This is system is pretty similar to the ELO system game developers use in their ladder matchmaking. It's simple, effective, transparent, and can be tracked all the way to the finish. With the number of games being such a small sample size, figuring out the quality of opponent early season would be the only thing that needs to be debated. You could still use the AP poll for this I guess since the AP poll is trying to accurately rank week to week what they believe will be the eventual rankings at the end of the year.

College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild
Nobody wants that PSU job. I'm sure they're regretting the Franklin firing right about now.

Ryan Williams leaving Alabama?
We still need some elite speed to create even more spacing and turn more screens into chunk plays.

Monday night Malakai Lee
Darn was hoping you were doing something clever there. Hopefully we'll get a surprise tomorrow morning then. 🤞

Ryan Williams leaving Alabama?
Any truth to some of the posts about Ryan William leaving Alabama for LSU? If so, any chance of us trying for him?

Sark isn't Lane Kiffin.

Monday night Malakai Lee
Do I see a "Hi" in your post there? Or did you not mean to do that? 😆

Cancel Ohio State Immediately
I agree. The committee is dictating that all they care about is loss count. We already play a 9 game SEC schedule. We don't need more SOS so high profile non-conference games are just for the TV networks. You know what make us more money? Making the playoffs and winning championships and we risk that continuing the dice roll non-conference games.

Nicole Auerbach Texas CFP chances
Zero chance. I have to see it to believe it on Tuesday. I expect to just go up 1 spot to #15.

Derrek Cooper and Jermaine Bishop Jr.
I feel like we're going to have to use Bishop's athleticism at WR more so than CB. We have so much more depth at CB while no gamechangers at WR.

Latest AP Top 25 Poll | End of Regular Season
I fully expect us to only go up 1 spot on Tuesday's CFP ranking passing Michigan. It's clear the AP and committee after the third loss against Georgia had ruled Texas out of the playoffs. They will not take a 3 loss team if there are teams available with fewer. That's the only explanation at this point. Because it's only us that doesn't seem to be getting any credit for who we've beaten (this week's ranking is prime example). How can we not be above Vanderbilt beating them head to head, with a better SOS, and better wins? Just shows you their priority system is: 1st - number of losses 2nd - who you've lost to 3rd - who you've beaten 4th - head to head With 3rd and 4th potentially not even counting when it comes to Texas.

College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild
Why is it that Jeff Traylor still isn't getting a shot anywhere? Penn State going to be left in the cold at this rate.

Texas vs. S.Carolina thread...women's hoops!
Yea SC will always be physically bigger than us. That's how they are always built. We just have to beat them with defensive energy, execution from our guards/Booker, and some inside presence here and there. I think this year's game in Columbus will be more competitive even if they win.

HOOK 'EM! 2026 EDGE Jamarion Carlton Flips to Texas
This was the 2nd "hi" right? Any recruit that went to that game yesterday had to be jacked. Would you rather play in that environment or in the sad ass Big 12 with Baylor?

Texas vs. S.Carolina thread...women's hoops!
Way to go ladies!! Rory gets MVP but Justice Carlton should get honorable mention. If it wasn't for her hustle and physicality, we wouldn't have gotten as many offensive rebounds and Edwards would have gone off on us. She impressed me the most this tournament since I didn't think she was anything special after last year. I wish Jordan Lee knew she was a dawg. When she realizes it, look out. They should have been setting her up the last 2 possession instead of Booker given the defense. Imagine how much better we'd do with Crump, Preston, and Judd giving Booker, Harmon, and Lee a breather. Going to be another special year for the girls.

Women’s hoops in Vegas! #4 Texas vs. #3 UCLA 1pm CT
That first half was beautiful and efficient. The fatigue set in once the 2nd half started though. You could tell Booker and Lee didn't have the legs but Harmon carried hard. That might have been Rory's best game I've seen in 3 years. She looked like the old Rory on offense tonight hitting her midrange shots. Not sure we can outlast South Carolina without Crump and Preston but the team looks tournament ready already. Should at least put up a good fight.

HOOK 'EM | Texas Flips OL Kaden Scherer
This sounds like a another development project which we have a lot of already. Hope we see him contribute in a couple years.

Steve Sarkisian: Arch Manning is 'better and stronger' for how he's handled his 2025 journey
I thought this thread was about Arch. LOL The mental and physical toughness he's shown enduring the terrible OL play early season and digging himself out of the confidence funk he was in shows what kind of warrior he is for us. We know when things don't look good down the road, #16 is going to keep the wheels on the wagon.

Womens hoops recruiting
Crittendon is basically Aaliyah Crump (super skilled offensively and physically strong) but 2 inches taller. Bjorn looks like a good outside shooter but it'll be good to see if she can translate physically to the P4 college game. This class is looking solid for Vic. The future is bright.

Women’s hoops vs James Madison
She bumped knees with one of our players. Hopefully it's just a bruise and no structural damage.

Women’s hoops vs James Madison
Oldacre with a knee injury is concerning going into the UCLA game. We were ready to wreck them healthy so I hope she can get back to 100% this week. A Betts vs Oldacre matchup would be awesome to watch. One last thing, I think Jordan Lee is going to be a special player for us the remaining 3 years she's here. Her offensive and defensive development this offseason has been next level. She's our best and cleanest defender and our best 3 pt shooter that can get nice mid range shots off the dribble too. She is NOT a role player and I hope Vic is putting her on a path to lead our team the next couple years once Maddie and Rory are gone. She keeps developing year after year and gets a little stronger, with some playmaking, she could be an Azzi Fudd type for us.

Steve Sarkisian on his future at Texas: 'I’m not going anywhere'
Wasn't there a report today that he took a call from the NY Giants owner? It was just to touch base apparently. First off, are these reports true and are these the type of things people are extrapolating on as him close to leaving?

Eye-Opening Rushing Numbers (Monday AM)
Sark once again is out of touch with game planning, in game decisions, and recognizing the strength of his team when it comes to the running game. One mistake (penalty, turnover, etc) and he gives up on the running game. It took him a while to commit to running most the season when we had bijan and roschon. The rushing game is just a throw in once the passing game is effective or when his back is against the wall. When he has choices, it will always favor the passing game. This cost us the Washington game 2 years ago. It hurt us in the Ohio State games and multiple games this year. Sark is predictable in this way at this point. Coaches know this. It's not a coincidence that Georgia and most teams just play 3 back now to force Sark to do things he doesn't want to. Georgia didn't do anything fancy on defense. They just keep testing Sark's patience and he kept trying to press from a passing standpoint. Look at the Georgia RB's the last 3 years and look at ours. They are physical runners and no necessarily with elite speed. We gave up on Gibson too early and put too many eggs in the Baxter basket. We need to fully commit and recruit more dawgs on RB/OL and less speed.

Kirby was on the attack in post game PC
He should. But if he's misrepresenting things ofc. Our defense (which he's mostly talking about defensive players recruiting wise) is plenty physical. If he's going to tell me Colin Simmons and Ant Hill are not out there smashing people, he's lying. Lance Jackson and Justus Terry (Or Atkinson and Johnson) will get plenty of run and bring plenty of physicality next year.

Snap Judgments: Another showdown with Georgia, another humbling loss for Texas
We got out physical-ed no question in the first game in Austin, but last night was less physicality in my mind than it was personnel, discipline, and focus. Georgia just has bigger and better players on the line right now. That's not our players not wanting to get in there and fight but it's just they are bigger and stronger than our OL and tack on the fact we hold on to jerseys too long, it exacerbates the situation. Our defensive line and LBs did fine against the run until they wore out in the 2nd half. The narrative would be so much different if Auburn would have just made the FG in the SEC championship. People are forgetting we didn't get outplayed in that game even though it was ugly, We should have won that game in regulation.
